For a while, why the E-Up software is updated.

God, it's a good car. Why no 7Kw charging though?? And no heat pump on this demo is a bit whack in this weather.

not strange if you consider the psychology behind the omission. Its a low profit car with informed buyers. They would rather you buy something else or buy an engine (higher profit). If people think this is an important buying decision then they will buy something else. Im starting to believe this is a compliance vehicle. Considering cancelling my order.

It's even stranger that the US E-Golf has 6.6kw OBC as standard. I would have considered the E-Golf if it had a heat pump and the 6.6kw OBC as standard.

I agree... The GTE will be interesting to try though - I wish the petrol/electric mix was more like the Ampera though
I was interested in the GTE until I saw the Fully Charged review and the synthetic engine sound put me right off it. I prefer my cars to be as quiet as possible.

When I was test driving the Audi eTron this morning. Even with the engine running, it was very quite, so I don't see why the GTE will not be?
In the fully charged, Robert was probably redlining the engine first time he switched on the engine, the second time he pressed the GTE button which produced the synthetic engine note which made it sound sportier??

Range is an issue in the Golf today... Still grumpy about no heat pump.

  • Lights on (all LED)
  • Climate at 22 degrees (the default)
  • Driver's seat heater on occasionally
  • wipers on intermittent
  • Sat Nav on
  • Eco mode
Driving on mainly flat dual carriageway 65mph

Range as indicated at 100% SOC - 112 miles
Actually achieved (to 1 mile range left) - 64 miles!

That's my main issue with the golf, they just about managed to squeeze a battery into their existing platform which is big enough to be useful. But it's certainly not large enough, they need to change the platform to get more space.

Wow really. I wonder how much not having a heat pump affects the range.

Does the E-Golf have a energy usage graph like the LEAF to get some idea how much energy the heating was using?

Sort of... It says how many miles range things use. The heated mirrors took 2 miles as did the seat heat. The climate control was estimated at taking 20 miles range off from full.
