That's about 13 quid per engine for a year at one of Wales's largest single employers. The calculation for how much this engine reduces UK emissions (guessing around 200k units go domestic) vs EV sales over the next year might be interesting too.
The Govt policies are being driven by the need to lower carbon levels in the atmosphere. Hence the manufacturer's are boasting 'lower emissions' for current products? It's a persuasive argument (to government) that environmental improvements can be achieved more effectively, by refining the current technologies - rather than introducing new ones! Not that the BEV is a new concept - at all!
While the uptake of EVs is below target - we can expect to see lots of investment in the traditional 'oil burning' technologies. There are lots of vested interests at play too?
Bidding the case for EVs is not straight-forward. (IMHO)
