I'd be interested to hear if anyone with a Model S on order has had confirmation from their delivery specialist as to whether their car still qualifies?

According to the government document the purchase should still be eligible provided the grant submission has been filed in good time. At what stage do Tesla's staff apply for the grant though?

No reason to believe they're not on top of this.

And in any case the grant is only going down from £5000 to £4500; if it turned out that they'd failed the file the paperwork on time for a February ordered car, and so had lost out on £500, then I'd expect them to swallow the £500 loss.

I ordered on 21st Feb, and specifically asked about this. The Sales Advisor was very sure that I would get the full £5k off the car.

Far more worrying is the collapse in the pound since the Brexit nonsense was announced - from $1.55 when I ordered mine to $1.38 today. There's been two UK price corrections to deal with exchange rate fluctuations since I ordered and there will have to be another (big) one soon in response to this.

Yes pay when it arrives but the original price is honoured.

Got my invoice on Friday. Total is exactly what was on the order document from early November, including the £5K grant and the referral.
Now just got to go down the back of the sofa to find the cash...

Monday 29 Feb is last order day for current grant. Delivery must be within 9 months. I have heard some VW dealers would not accept GTE orders on £5K grant recently.

I had a marketing email from Tesla trying to upsell me a new car on the basis of the changes in the grant.

A sort of "quick get your order in to make sure you get £5k off".

It did make me chuckle. £500 in the grand scheme of things is a drop in the ocean, and I think I'll stick to my guns and keep the car a little longer ;)

No no no don't tell me I don't want to see it <claws eyes>

OK, I saw it. A bit less than mine but with the upgraded interior and sound. Damn. Plus I could have got it faster. Still, prefer the grey to the tan interior <sniff>

I'm fairly confident prices will come down because the grant will no longer be "x% up to [grant amount]".

So the "get your order in quick" thing just makes me not ever want to buy from them.

You can't blame Tesla for doing some actual selling to try and get people off the fence and make a purchase, they're a business for heaven's sake.

People said the same thing about Tesla when they phoned round saying a price hike was coming last time, but they were correct and the prices went up £1-2k. Although the £500 isn't very significant I suggest if anyone is thinking about a brand new one to be very aware that Tesla won't be able to absorb a 10-15% drop in the value of the pound for very long.

Well, ok then, punish Tesla by not buying one of their cars :D

That's more realistic than you might think. With it being possible to get a used Tesla for around £40k and the price of [for arguments sake] a new i3 about to drop from around £30k to [watch this space]. Of course that's more about the change to the grant, but getting back at Tesla sweetens the deal.

I'm in the market for an i3 at the moment and either going to wait for the upgraded battery 2017 version being released (supposedly) in July, or buy a nearly new one now.

Are you saying I should wait? (I'm due a call back from a BMW dealer about an i3 later today!)
