So I have the e-sound button.
When I switch it on/off, I see the screen message to say it is on/off.
But when I drive with it on with the windows down I don't hear anything. My wife standing on the driveway doesn't hear anything either.
Is it a really subtle sound or do I have to be doing anything special to get the sound ?

I couldn't hear mine with windows open either. Perhaps it just hisses at people as they get in the line of the sensors?

It's an engine sound type noise. It's very subtle, and is undetectable from inside or at super low speeds.

Where is this button...?
Is it an option or standard on all models...?
The stealthy silence in emode is one of the best features for me, particularly useful for sneaking up on cyclists...

E-Sound is only on the Advance @Golfer. The button for it is between the E-Mode and GTE Mode ones to the left of the Gear Lever.

I couldn't hear mine at any speed and even tried it in silent car-park conditions and on newly tarmacked roads. There is always something louder than it - Bridgestone Tyre roar or wind noise from having the windows down to try and hear it.

I actually had my car booked in to look at it because it wasn't obvious and the VW Tech (Sheffield's E vehicle specialist no less) didn't actually know what the E-sound was, where it came from and tried to convince me its on 'European models'. After printing off all the blurb and placing it in his hand he went away to do some research.

Still waiting for a response 2 months later.

In the recent warmer weather I tried the E-mode again on a very smooth road and about 15mph i could hear a very minor change in noise between having the button pressed and not. In reality its a pointless gimmick that will never be used, its one of the things they should do away with but someone has clearly decided its to be used as a difference between the standard and Advance GTE's
