Hi everyone. We picked our Nissan Leaf Tekna up on the 31st of March and are loving it. Really impressed with ecotricity with their fast chargers for free, really loving driving past the gas stations and loving the extra cash in our bank account at the end of this month
I hate having to drive our ICE Golf during the week as Mrs B uses Evie to go to work each day. I have produced a blog as we get lots of questions, its at www.stevenbarrettblog.wordpress.com, enjoy.

Hi Steven, there seems to be lots of people buying Leafs around here now. Thought we had the only Leaf in Rochdale but a 14 plate drove up our street the other day, so clearly not anymore! There is lots to be excited about at the moment, as the TEN-T rapid chargers are due to be in by the end of the year, we should have the M62 and M6 covered, IKEA Leeds is part of this project. Plus the 3 rapids being installed By GMEV in Manchester. Not sure if Leeds have any funding for anything further? You have the rapid at Halifax Nissan right now, but that's all really isn't it?

Yes we have the broken charger at Sainsburys !!. I scoped out Ikea Birstall last week, nothing there yet. Nothing in bradford or leeds outside of dealerships, bit disappointing really. It looks like Tesco Huddersfield have charging but we have yet to visit there. McArthurGlen retail outlet A64/A19 York have 2 x CYC 13a & 7kw charging posts we had to use them last sunday as the Wetherby services ecotricity post was duff, didnt get home til early morning, got enough power to get to woolley edge then 20mins later we were on our way to Halifax and home.

I got my leaf from Westway around March 2013 and that was apparently the first one they had sold, seeing a fair few of them out and about in Rochdale now

Im hemmed in by Renault Zoe's as my two sons have snapped a pair up recently. But there are more and more Leafs about around our area as well. With Birch services on line we just need Welcome Break at Hartshead Moor services to get powered up then the whole area is covered. Leeds is still a bit of a desert but there you go, cant all be forward thinkers like Manchester I guess.

Our Nissan showroom on Roseville Road in Leeds has a Pod Point post up and working (needs the card) and the adjoining Renault showroom also has a Chargemaster post (key operated). Both are available during showroom hours - you are welcome to pop in for a charge and a hot drink anytime. It's about a 15-20 min walk into Leeds though....

"Showroom hours" is useless though......
Spare a thought though for those of us who have to work till 7pm on an evening - or 8pm during "Summer" hours. I don't think 8.00am till 7.00pm is too bad during the week. Remember also that there are security issues outside these opening hours - there are quite a few valuable cars to secure! ;)

Not a criticism of you or anyone working in showrooms! The concept of a charger network that's inaccessible - as Nissan have set up - is fundamentally flawed. A few dealerships have a rapid that's accessible 24 hours, separate from the cars so as to avoid the security issue. Much better.

BTW I make the same criticism of chargers in IKEA which are then used as a reason why no motorway chargers are needed nearby. Pointless if you need to travel and they are shut!

At least Nissan dealers are there to assist and many actively want to do so. With Ikea the parking is already a bl**dy nightmare at the best of times, and thus the prevalence of ICEing that goes on. I couldn't think of a place I'd least like to stop at than Ikea. Nice products, dreadful place to visit.

I like IKEA, personal reserved parking for my Leaf, free tea and coffee during the week plus free fast broadband. I visit, slurp tea and log on to our works cloud server to do my office work ...then I go home fully fuelled and hydrated - Result !

Regarding the Nissan chargers I do use them at Halifax but will not use the Chargemaster ones as they have to be paid for - I have a Podpoint card but only used it one or twice in the year as their chargers rarely work

Our Chargemaster one is free to use - key operated by a member of staff. The PodPoint is a brand new replacement unit so works at the moment....
