For those interested/curious, here's my latest staycation setup. I drove from Oxford to Newquay, 2 adults & 2 young kids. The roof box was full, we had about another 30kg stuff in there. The MPG photo shows the return journey. I drove at 70mph, not too windy or rainy. I've done this about 4 times now and have been pleasantly surprised with the practicality of the Ampera, not just in load carrying/adaptability but the ICE economy too. Going from a Passat estate to this Ampera, I was naturally worried about the reduction in load space. However, this has meant my wife doesn't pack as much sh1te as she normally would. Win-win!

(I have also found 3 regular holiday cottages who allow EV charging too.)

Also found it more practical than expected. Rear ideal for kids albeit 2 max (which is a target worth sticking to anyway in my book😉) and everyone is limited to a ‘carry on’ suitcase each !
