Could anyone recommend the best home charging point and the cost to buy and to get one installed.

Unfortunately it's not so simple, as the answer depends on your own setup and what you actually want from a charger.

As a ball park figure you'd be looking at 5-700 for a cheap charger and an easy install. Rising up to anything between 1500-2000 if it's a difficult job with a more premium model.

Yep, it's one of the things some people will budget for when getting an electric or plug in hybrid, others just don't even think about it.

It's certainly worthwhile with a plug in hybrid.

Some people buy PHEVs, never charge them and then complain about their poor fuel economy.

I charged mine for quite a few months with the granny when I first got it, but it's not ideal really safety wise so got a hypervolt.

It has to be a 'smart' type as the Wallbox above is.

An eelectrician will need to oo the install and should do a free survey first, since depending on the type of supply you have other parts maybe required eg PEN protection and/or an earth rod.

I charged my 2017 GTE on a 7kw box I previously used for my Leaf on a 5p, 4hr tariff from Octopus so it cost just 30p/day for upto 25miles (summer).
