I was wondering how well or badly the Ampera/Volt was selling so after a bit of digging around I found some figures for 2012:
According to SMMT figures from: http://bestsellingcarsblog.com/2013/02/ ... s-ranking/
455 Amperas
67 Volts
Acording to DVLA figures from: http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/va ... ectron_cvt
447 Amperas (342 Ampera Electron, 101 Ampera Positiv, 4 Ampera (Other))
67 Volts
Reasonably consistent figures.
Overall a bit disappointing as the market share is a long way down on the US figures, where there are over 31,000 volts on the road. (23,461 in 2012 And 7,671 in 2011 from http://money.cnn.com/2013/01/03/autos/c ... index.html) hopefully we'll see improved sales in our second year also.
As a percentage of total cars:
US: 31,000 of 250 million is 0.0124%
UK: 522 of 40 Million = 0.0013%
So it seems that maybe a UK car buyer really loves their oil more than a US car buyer...
I wonder how this reflects with other EV's like the leaf?
