We’ve got a solar panel on the roof of our 2010 Prius (and you can also specify it on the current PHEV version). All it does in our car is power a small fan to circulate air in the car when it is parked - keeps the temperature down a little in the car on hot days. Solar panels have got more efficient since then but probably not enough to compensate for their extra weight. This seems to be lightweight, flexible solar which would benefit from lower weight but would be less efficient than conventional modules.

TFA says up to 100Wh/day, or 0.1kWh... Is it really worth the bother for an EV? That's about 500m of driving on a good day.

Put it another way, it would take two years to charge the 64kWh battery.

100Wh ain't gonna run the AC for long. Or put it another way, the battery could supply the same account of cooling for two years.
