So this bloke rolls up in a swanky Mercedes ICE outside the Starbucks at Popham Services on the A303 and ignores twenty or so empty spaces to park up in the Pod Point charging space. Then he gets busy on his laptop for an hour. The Pod Point sign is conspicuous and the space is asphalted in brilliant green to show it is a special charge point space.

I swear he must either own Pod Point or think he does or have thought it was a special opportunity to show how important he was .....

Whenever I see a car parked across two spaces, I think about buying an old Smart car so that in future I can park it right flush next to the driver's door but still be within the space, so that it severely annoys the twunt who thinks they must have two spaces for the Precious, and also so that if it gets dinged by said twunt, who cares?

Also, matt paint finishes.

Neither of these are directly associated with the OP, but I felt the urge to get it off my chest.

Could be that he discovered the Starbucks free wifi worked from that place. And as he remained sitting in the car then no real damage if someone arrived to charge. Of course, if he then refused to move it would be a different matter.

I was about to get on my high horse yesterday at Norwich Aldi where one space was ICEd when I noticed after the ICE had chugged off that it actually wasn't marked as EV only (which the space I used was).

Presumably he was too poor to afford a coffee and sit inside in the warm to use the WiFi. We should feel sorry for people in that situation.

If you wanted to mess with him try this?
Park in front of him (realy close) blocking him in, and proceed to plug in your 5m cable to the socket behind him. Then sit in your car and use the wifi

Amateur. I say park on the paved area to left. Get out your 10m T2 cable (I carry this in the Leaf). Route I round the right side of his car, smash both his back windows with a firemans axe, pass the cable though across his back seats, plug in, start the charge.

Then tap on his drivers window with said axe an when he lowers the window say "I wouldn't touch that cable mate it is 32 amps @ 240v and will kill you stone dead if you happen to be anywhere near a lot of metal, oh, which you are.

Then go and have a coffee and await the police.

Plenty of space there to park on the pavement, and within 2cm of his driver's side.

Seriously though, this is the problem in putting any 'specialised' spaces near the buildings. Best keep them far far away. I wish they put 'proper' wheelchair access bays in place, and far from both car and foot-fall traffic.
