Good evening sir. My avatar is linked to my google account and was chosen due to lack of creativity.

My ID.3 was in today for a BECM unit change for the SOS call function and when they called me they said they could also take the 2.1 update next week. If this is of interest for some of you I will push forward Monday morning so it could be done as fast as possible and provide information and pictures.
It would very much be of interest my friend! There will be a briefcase under the park bench closest to the fountain at noon, place the pictures inside it then leave to the north exit of the park. Then get out of town, lie low for a while... VW are watching!! 🕵️‍♂️

Or, just post the pictures on the thread, this will also work.

Good luck with the BECM change and software update! 👍

I will be waiting at the bandstand for the quick switch for safe onward transmission, and will use the challenge phrase “The camel is in the lift, but which one?”.

Have your response ready comrade, or the end will be swift, I will have people in the bushes nearby...

Subject to a successful transfer, I will leave via the park South Exit, as long as I can start my GDR supplied ID.3 Wurst Edition with zero yellow warnings.

If I don’t leave directly, I will be waiting 20 minutes for an ECU reset, or even pulling the 12v negative lead.

I will at some point head directly for Lichtenberg, at a most efficient 67 mph, via the Ionity network.

Fear not comrade, if you have troubles I will hear you and come to your aid. I will hear you because I don't have any bloody rear speakers so my music won't get loud enough to drown out anything at all!!! :p

So got 2 more hampers from VW today for the "delay". Another crisps, chocolate and booze one and the other Champagne, bubble bath, shampoo and deodorant... not sure how to take that.

This is a week after the first, so maybe this is a weekly thing now? :)

When Phlashman takes VW to court over refusing to let him reject his car...

"Your honour, we question Phlashman's reliability as a witness. We hear he drinks a lot of alcohol... you will note exhibit A, champagne bottles and other assorted booze recovered from his recycling bins..."

It's all part of VW's plan... they're always one step ahead!

Good point. Maybe I should send THEM a hamper and see what happens.

To be honest some of the chocolates in these hampers are passive aggressively horrible. Lime and Chilli Dark chocolate thins? They're going to be re-gifted to the in-laws.

Mailed my dealer this week, seems to have forgotten he was going to pick my car up and get it upgraded to 0783 back in December. I'll wait for 2.1, the car is only being used for the shopping run so we'll put up with the frustrating software for now.

As ever, top communication

Our ID.3 12v battery is a Varta 51 Ah, 280A DIN, 480A SAE. I understand it is a Lead Calcium flooded battery. Seems fairly standard for VW.

I am interested to learn your test results.
Sorry for the delay, I've just done the test with the Foxcon BT100pro tester with the battery connected to the car & the car locked so no charging and minimal discharge of the battery. I used the gel setting and 480 SAE on the tester. It returned a result of 484 SAE which is slightly lower than I would expect on a 5 month old car but OK. I've driven about for about an hour in London today (25 miles) so it's had a reasonable top up. It measured 12.09 V, which is slighty lower than I was expecting. The temperature is currently 14 degrees Celsius.

I don't think the 12V battery is going to give me any problems for a while.

Dropped by the ID.3/4 specialists office today and indeed the 2.1 firmware is coming this week or the next.

I will keep you guys in the loop and will post information and pictures as fast as possible. Also I will try to get the TPI issue number so that anyone with a VAS computer can confirm if they wish.

If you can ask the specialist whether 2.1 has a different implementation for battery and/or cabin heating that would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Thanks, but I'd point out that BGB is in Norway and they are rumoured to get 2.1 earlier.

This will be very exciting after all this time. I wonder if it will look any different?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that 2.1 will do absolutely nothing other than enable OTA updates. What happens after that will be the more interesting phase. For example, will VW publish patch notes of the updates they push to cars, like Tesla do? I very much doubt it but would be happy to be proved wrong!
