From Rakish ID 5 and hot ID 4 GTX to spearhead VW push | Autocar

Kicking off the next wave of ID models is the new ID 4 GTX, which is due to reach the UK in the middle of next year under a marketing campaign led by the slogan ‘Fun without regret’. It will be the first model to use the new GTX tag, which will sit alongside the long-running GTI badge in VW’s performance line-up.

The hot crossover-style SUV forgoes the single-motor rear-wheel-drive layout of standard ID models already on sale for a dual-motor four-wheel-drive set-up that will yield a combined 302bhp and 339lb ft. That’s sufficient for 0-62mph in 6.2sec and a 112mph top speed together with a range of up to 286 miles on a standard 82kWh battery.

Perhaps they should get the ID.3 right before spending too much time on diversification of the options on the MEB platform. :devilish:
As I see it they are about 12 months behind having the ID3 ready for launch and the Beta testers are beginning to lose patience with them. I wonder how many of the people that cancelled their ID3 1st Editions at £39k are regretting the decision yet? All in all it's a pity as VAG have a lot riding on this being a success and it's a fundamentally sound concept.

It’s good to see they’re going mostly all in with future EVs and the ID.3 is just the start.

VW will get the ID.3 issues sorted, they have to, no going back now as it’s an EV future for them or bust.

Interesting point form the website: Rather than being 'overpriced' the GTX is not the most expensive model in the line-up.

"This makes the GTX in the basic version even cheaper than the ID.4 Pro versions Business, Family, Tech and Max, which also rely on the 77 kWh battery but have to make do with only one electric motor (150 kW). "
I think that’s because in standard form it will have less toys than all of those. By the sound of things it’s going to be a model range in the same way the Pro is. I guess the full bells and whistles one will be pushing £60k on that basis, which sounds very optimistic. Knocking on the door of some much faster and flasher machines. Unless it’s absolutely sublime to drive, which is fairly unlikely.

It’s a bit odd. I guess they want the US market because otherwise referencing the GTI you’d think they’d do an ID3 GT first. An SUV that is about the same performance as a Mach e or ipace is good but doesn’t scream sporty to me
