I would have it too, a bit quicker getting into the house or car when it is raining and no fear of driving off accidentally with the cable still attached (not that I have tried that yet or know if it is possible but I have managed to leave the charging flap open for a few hundred yards).

Mind you, if they can get it approved and on the list why not? Even if the government only paid for the first £1000 it might make it attractive. I'd consider it.
