I am looking into the total ownership cost of a Super Soco and the quoted price for the TC I get is £680 per annum for 3rd party fire and theft. This seems too high for me as it is more than what I have paid for my Nissan Leaf and the TC is only 50cc.

I never had a claim but also have not owned a motorcycle before and I have had my A/A1 since 2005. Is this normal that the cost is so high when compare the market advert said £315?

Have a look on a couple of the UK electric motorbike forums for some recommendations but I don't think its unusual.

It seems high priced insurance is common at the moment as its still quite specialist. Lack of competition and high repair costs is pushing the prices up.

I've seen people get cheaper quotes on R1's and Fireblades!

Just for anyone else who comes across this post :

Insurance underwriters will also be taking into account the fact that you've had your licence for a while, but have 0 history of actually owning/using a motorcycle. First-year insurance will be something like twice the price simply for that reason (you're far more likely to have an accident and make a claim in the first year than you will be in the subsequent years).
Also you'll have other factors, location, where the bike is kept (theft risks), etc etc etc
