Hi,

I have just had an extended test drive - second time out in the car. This time I had it overnight and realised that the touch buttons which are below the display (controlling temperature and volume) are not illuminated in the dark so you cant see them at night. I've asked the dealer and this is not a setting issue and the buttons are not illuminated. Apparently there is a golf model (maybe the new one) which has the same 'feature'.

I have also asked about the connectivity i.e. the car connects to the mobile network (via 3G or 4G) for the purpose of OTA updates and keeping VW updated. I can't see anything in the brochure about who pays for this although the dealer tells me it is free for a number of years. Anyone else have any further insight ?

The one I test drove had a 4G connection. I could see the 4G Symbol and signal strength on the main display screen. Not sure on which network but I believe it uses an e-sim.
Wrt the touch buttons -That seems a significant oversight by VW.

Ant 1st ED owners care to comment on this now? Has it been an issue?
