No one in this country should be buying new French cars with the way Macron is behaving on Ukraine and numerous other issues
However I love the way Macron treated Trump when he visited France. Did you watch the clip with the French Military Band playing Daft Punk with a confused Trump not following the plot. I disagree with Macron on his Ukraine/Russia policy but that will not stop me loving France.

Off to France soon in my Kona and I will have a look at one. The Megane looks an Ideal car for holidays in France with 22kW AC charging, respectable DC charging and a decent range. If only it had a 5 year warranty like my Hyundai.

You know what? This is actually growing on me. But I'll wait until the configurator goes live before deciding if I want one.

EDIT - Shame Renault completely dropped out of Fully Charged Live
Yes, I was expecting to see one there. When I am on holiday in France I will pop onto a dealer and have a look, they are already being sold in France.

Saw one at Fully Charged Amsterdam.
I still like it (in the Euro spec), but UK ones drop the 12-inch infotainment for 9, have fabric-only upholstery (no "vegan leather") and completely drop the digital "smart" mirror.
I'm unhappy about the screen shrink, but dropping the digital mirror is a deal breaker for me, due to the letterbox height rear glass.

I do like the look of the Megane E-Tech. If it is actually sensibly priced, not outrageously expensive like all current EVs.

Also why does it look so out of proportion? What's with the obsession with making cars so unnecessarily tall nowadays?

They are much easier to get into and out of.
Not that I have ever had a problem getting in or out of any of the regular size cars I have owned or driven.

Actually, I find it much harder getting into unnecessarily high cars.

I don't see what's wrong with just wanting a normal size car, not some oversized hulk.

Did you hear him say that it is narrower than a Zoe and shorter than a Focus? Not actually that high either. It's the (fashionable?) butch styling that makes it look oversized. It's not.

As another example, I found myself in my ID3 "hatchback" parked next to a Kona "crossover". The Kona looked more SUV but is actually lower than the ID3. So I checked the dimensions when I got home and the two cars are the same size within about 50mm.

Looks a good car, Nissan should absolutely retire the age old Leaf platform and bring a new Leaf out based on this one, it has a lot going for it.
Please explain a little. Why would the Renault platform be better? The current leaf is incredibly comfortable and quiet and drives very well. I'd happily get one if the price was right. I haven't seen the Renault yet but it looks awful in the pics with that flat front and annoying enormous Renault badge.

"Narrower than a Zoe"? That would make very cramped.
One thing I liked about the Leaf was it's narrowness. The length and height are not an issue, but the stupid tendency for manufacturers to seemingly just multiply all the dimensions by 10, 20 or whatever percent is, so they end up with oversized vehicle not best suited to the UK roads.

The Leaf is on the same platform as the Pulsar it is not an EV specific platform (transmission tunnel etc) and the Leaf has torsion beam rear suspension which is substandard compared to other offerings with several disadvantages.
An EV specific platform is superior.

The ZE1 Leaf has coil springs all round. Maybe still has a twist beam too.

In fact I have a set of Eiback springs for sale which I never got fitted to my Leaf E+.

Anyone noticed how loud the car is in the video? The Zoe I tested briefly is also very noisy. The Ariya is much more quiet in the test videos.
Can't say I paid any attention to noise on my test drive, was too busy getting familiar with all the (E)"Tech" :D

But from what I've read it's among the most quiet EV's. One reviewer had measured several EV's and only Mustang Mach-e was on its own league, Megane was second closer to likes of Enyaq and Mercedes EQA.

Practically the main noise source is wind noise from mirrors that might be more noticeable at higher speeds.

The whole floor with the battery is practiaclly insulated which helps with noise levels. This also helps with thermal management of the battery in winter etc.

EDIT: That said the new Ariya seems promising also, based on same platform. They even have the same mirror camera setup. But for some reason Ariya still lacks the Google AAOS also co-developed with LG.

Having driven the Polestar and XC40, in which AAOS is also great, have to say the system in Megane is currently one of the best around.
