I’m just wondering if anyone can give some advice with an upcoming test drive I’ve arranged on Monday, what do I need to look out for during the test drive?

The car has 7k miles on the clock and is a 69 plate and is a premium se.

I did have a leaf + in my sights but have decided to discount Nissan as I don’t like the way their customer service works or should I say lack of!

To give a bit of back ground, I coming from a Merc E320 cdi w211, which has done its job well for what it was brought for, ie 140mile round trip to rebuild a house, over 18 months.
Now I’m working local within a 20 mile radius but with regular ish 100+ mile trips.
We already own a Mg ZS ev, had it from new last year, been so impressed with it the Merc hasn’t moved for six months! So Mrs S hasn’t had a chance to drive her car, even the kids like it.

I’m also looking at the MG5 exclusive, had a look at one, but was a bit disappointed with the car I looked at, which only had 3k miles on it, but was absolutely trashed, how they can even think of selling it in the state it was in, I just don’t understand. (This is an MG dealer!)
One thing that stood out for me was the boot, which although was quite large, the access through the hatch is a bit on the .....small side... very disappointing, plus the so called folding seats aren’t
They just fold a little bit forward onto the squabs, so all told a bit crap really, Especially after all the hype online.

So the only other leccy car that I could find that could work for me is the Ioniq.
If I decide to go for one then I will have to buy outright as I’m self employed, unless someone offers a blindingly good deal on pcp, but i can’t see that happening.

You can ask the owner why he's selling such a young car and why it's only got 7k miles on it.
Because it doesn't make sense that anyone spend a small fortune on an EV, to keep it parked on the driveway and then sell it 2 years later.

The car is advertised with a Hyundai dealer just down the road from me, so I’m sure it’s a trade in or an ex leace, to be honest I don’t like the colour of the car, I just want to try driving one, then if I like what I see, then I will start the hunt or look at ordering a new one.
One thing that the Mg ZS has taught me that i like a lot is the panoramic sunroof, so if I end up going new then the only optional extra is the sunroof that will be added to the order...
Has anyone got a sunroof? Is it a glass sliding panel or metal? You can’t really tell on the Hyundai web site!

Thankyou for all your advice so far especially @HandyAndy, by the way I know what you mean with the selecting forward when you thought you selected reverse, have done that my self in the ZS which has a turnie dailie in the centre console, personally I blame it on a senior moment, well that’s what I tell the kids!

Well, we had the test drive in a brand new premium spec car in white straight out of the showroom.
But with the weather as it is today I took it steady on the busy roads around the showroom.
Got to say it gives you a very good drive and I see what you owners mean when using the paddles it really does feel like you are being towed! It really does feel a well screwed together car.
There are a couple of negatives, the biggest one (or should I say the smallest one) is the boot, looking a pics is one thing but seeing in the light of day, I have to say it’s a bit on the weeny side, I honestly don’t think I will be able to get my tool boxes in! Let alone the chop saws.
Also after getting straight out of the ZS into the Ioniq, there’s quite a difference with the power delivery. Put it this way when I drove off after the test drive in our ZS I may have spun the wheels a bit and that was in eco! (Got a slap from the auto pasanger seat pilot).
I was a bit surprised at the seats, not much support at all!
That’s about it with the negatives!

All told I do like the car, it is still in the running but would I be able to find a premium se with a sunroof and in blue or grey.
I do still need to test drive the MG5 which I will do in the next couple of weeks.( to give it a fare chance!)
So hopefully I will have made my mind up by then.

Just thought I would update this thread, I came soooooooooooo close to pulling the trigger on a 1k mile 38kw but the dealer just wouldn’t move on the price at all.
I was really impressed with the test drive of the car, it was the right colour, everything felt right, but I just couldn’t justify the cost, hence asking them to drop the price.
This was two weeks ago.
I’ve finally got round to organising a test drive of the MG5 today, which went well, very impressed with the car, but the thing that made my mind up is the price, plus the affinity scheme that Mg are running.
So I’ve just paid £22,995 for a brand new MG5 exclusive in red!
Will be collecting next week.
To put it into context the ioniq I was looking to buy is still up for £26,577!
Yes it has allot more toys and is more efficient, but I just can’t part with that type of money for a second hand car.

Just curious, a 3k mile ZS Excite is about ~£17.7k, is is the exclusive worth £5k more? Obviously it's not as new.

It’s a MG5 not a ZS, that I’ve just paid for, but we also already have a Mg ZS exclusive that we’ve had since last year.
