A question to ask here is what happens when you turn the car on after the battery cooling process starts? Does it stop or continue?
Certainly something that @stageshoot can give the dealer for the investigation if he can replicate this behaviour. Sounds like it could a programming bug now.
I will check next time I charge.. When my battery got super hot about a week ago when I had the car on and cooling didn't kick in.. Car was on with the AC being off..

Without the app you use, you wouldn't have known about the elevated battery temps. Just makes me wonder how many of us have or had this issue without even knowing it? Scary, really.
The Torque Pro app is fairly cheap as are compativle OBD2 readers.. I spent like US$20 on the OBD2 reader and $5 or so on Torque Pro... $25 and a little bit of setup work to make it work with the Kona.. Luckily, there is lots of info on how to set up Torque Pro.. It's a fantastic app.. I would think that the car eventually will stop charging if the battery gets too hot.. At least I hope so..

Is there an equivalent of Leafspy for the Kona? It might have valve status on the chiller. Stuck valve or switch to the valve being faulty are likely scenarios.
If something like that could show on an app you'd think it would be bright and clear on the dealer's diagnostic systems.

My previous ICe car had engine temperature gauge right on the dash. The battery temperature should be visible somewhere, if not on Dash, at least somewhere to check.

It's a leap to think that they'd know how to analyse what they saw.

Early Start this morning, driving my car from Nottingham 150 miles to Morecombe in Lancs,, so Hyundai can pick it up and flatbed it all the way back past us to Tilbury in Essex.

SO annoyed they would not pick up direct from us, but no it has to go back to the supplying dealer... (Otherwise if it goes to a local dealer its reliant on them loaning a car which they dont have)... So 6 hour round trip today and 6 hour round trip next week to get it back.

Even with all the figures and details pointing so clearly now to a fault somewhere in the Chiller mode, they flatly refuse to let the dealer diagnose and fix, saying they want the car back at. Tilbury to diagnose it against other Konas they have there.

Never had this issue with BMW or Renault who when there was an issue with an EV they dropped of a Rental car and covered the cost of petrol while in use. Even asked if I could borrow a car from their Press fleet at head office instead of all the hassle going to DSG and taking his car. But Computer says no!

Dealer has been superb though-out and very helpful, but dealing with Hyundai not so .... Have printed out a stack of test results and readings for Hyundai and left them in the car for their engineer will see what happens.

Have a feeling it will get there they will charge it for a few minutes on a cold day with the battery being cold as it will not have been driven and say thee is nothing wrong!!!

You'll only get a Technician, not an Engineer unless they have a captive one over from SK. The whole complexities of the cooling system are new for BEVs so I suspect that the manual and training will not have an answer.
and say there is nothing wrong
Exactly.

They are sending someone down from head office to Tilbury for the week to work on it they said. Mentioned he was staying there in a hotel to work on it

Latest is that they accept our findings but need to confirm them with Thier own diagnostics tool rather than app and obd. But surely that could have been done at dealers

Wonder why it has to be at the docks? Is that the only place in the UK they have the facilities to diagnose full EV issues? If so it would be a worse situation than nissan uk and their battery service centres(a good few generally get sent back up to the factory for diagnostics and repair)

Imagine this in a few years time when the issues start becoming more common, hopefully they would have some techs at dealerships fully trained up by then around the country...

They said because they have other cars there to compare it with and rapid chargers on site.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have some specialist tools that the dealers don't have access too. It would also be a good chance for them to get a bunch of data on what the batteries will look like in that situation etc.
Still sucks for you though :/
