Hi guys,

Thank you for the moderators/site owners for setting up a thread for this EV now it can be ordered or more accurately an online reservation to make an order.
The Kia EV6 Electric Car | Kia Motors UK

Suggest we use the thread to
  • Notify each other for key events such as prices and specifications being fully confirmed
  • Discuss actual ordering process starting
  • Discuss first edition specifications and options (if any are available)

Questions we might discuss
  • How many orders will be allocated to our country
  • Will there be long waiting lists as there were for the Kia e-Niro at launch

I made my reservation on 11th April 2021. Not sure how early/late in the process that was, but already excited by the reviews and emerging information about the Kia EV6.

Many thanks,

Yes, pricing is somewhere on the site. The one I am interested in (the EV6 GT-line) starts at £43,895

AutoExpress also has some details
New 2021 Kia EV6: UK prices and specifications confirmed | Auto Express
Early EV6 adopters are offered a starting price of £40,895 for the 77.4kWh rear-wheel-drive 225bhp model, which features the dual 12.3-inch curved screens, sat-nav with Kia Connect, full LED headlights and plenty of advanced safety tech.
Stepping up to the sportier looking GT-Line version sees the price climb to £43,895. It features the same powertrain as the base-model, but a more aggressive body kit and some extra standard technology. Upgrades include suede upholstery, LED ambient lighting and a power-operated driver’s seat.
The top-spec, high-performance EV6 GT is priced from £58,295 and is only available with the high-power, all-wheel-drive powertrain.

It will be interesting to see what PCP offers there are. Given this car is likely to be in demand (my view) I very much doubt there will be some 0% APR PCPs but perhaps we might get some ~6% APR offers as with many new cars.

I put deposit down on 4th April and received email confirmation that day from Kia. Also have my eyes on the GT-line, possibly with four wheel drive. I’ve had a further email saying the order window opens end of April for reservation holders.
Thank you for reserving your Kia EV6
The exclusive window to place an order for your EV6 is due to open at the end of April, so in the meantime why not get to know our revolutionary new car a little more?
Thank you for flagging. My reservation message had gone to my junk folder (although I had the "deposit" receipt) and for a reservation 7 days after yours does not mention the "exclusive window" and is as such:

I'm believe the 7 year warranty will apply.
"Every Kia car comes with a class leading 7-year 100,000 mile warranty, including the battery. So you get 7 years of driving pleasure, 7 years of lower running costs and 7 years peace of mind."

I put my UK reservation down on 2nd April and got confirmation on the same day. Trouble is, I want a GT and I've heard they won’t be delivering any GT's until 2022. This throws a major spanner in the works because the new ULEZ Expansion Zone for London comes into force in October and I need an EV by then or else I'll be paying through the nose every time I leave the house and drive, well, pretty much anywhere.

If anyone can shed any light on the likely delivery dates that'd be great.
All the information I have seen on the availability of the top performance model is aligned to the AutoExpress article "First deliveries for the 577bhp Kia EV6 GT aren’t expected until October 2022. "

You could go for a monthly flexible EV hire options from October to when your Kia EV6 is ready. All-Inclusive Electric Car Subscriptions | Onto look to have a good range of cars and only have a 1-month commitment.

I have also put in an order reservation. Is it naive to assume that test drive models will be available in May when the ordering process kicks off? I am not going to order a car I've never driven.
I speculate that at the next stage of the process, placing an order will require a more significant deposit (say £1000), will require you to select a detailed specification and will also allow for a "no quibble" cancellation (i.e. no need to give a reason). This was the case for Kia e-Niro orders. If you did not want to go ahead by the time your car was ready, you could cancel and get a full deposit refund (in this case it was £1000). Not something I'm planning to do, but if there are no test drive models ahead of the order timeframe this gives flexibility and re-assurance so if you find the car is really not for you post test drive you can cancel the order.

For full transparency I got this information from a Facebook based Kia forum but thought those on this forum would be interested. For UK buyers it seems there will be two EV6 GT Line variants (EV6 GT-Line and EV6 GT-Line S). The GT-Line S includes a Meridian Premium Sound System. If this is anything like those in other marques this will be an awesome system.

It will be interesting to see the price difference between the two variants, and whether you scan specify the Premium Sound System separately.

Only 2 days until we can place our orders assuming the Kia statement in order emails that "The exclusive window to place an order for your EV6 is due to open at the end of April " is still correct.

nice! thanks for sharing. which Facebook group out of interest?
There is a post on 10th April in the Facebook group called Kia EV6 UK interest group with comment "Just spoke to my dealer to let them know that I have expressed interest in the EV6, and she told me that they are doing a GT-Line S as well as the GT-Line. This wasn't on the website, so thought I'd share it with you guys".

For people placing £100 reservations for a Kia EV6 in late March and very early August they were told "The exclusive window to place an order for your EV6 is due to open at the end of April" whereas if you were to place a £100 reservation for a Kia EV6 today you see the message "Place you order (After May 2021) .... offer you the option to be one of the first to place an EV6 order" as per @Bobdniro post above.

I wonder whether
1) Orders will offered first those who made their deposits earliest, and then in tranches ordered by deposit date OR
2) Everyone who made a deposit between when deposits could be first placed in March and the end of April will be offered the ability to make an order at the same time OR
3) Perhaps they will analyze where people live and balance orders across Kia dealers based on location

I wonder what will happen if there are far more deposits that allocation of UK EV6's?

Does anyone know how this process was managed by Kia for the UK Kia eNiro? I seem to remember there was loads of interest in the "First Edition" and far more orders made than could be delivered when the car launched and there were very long (sometimes a year and longer) waiting lists.

If anyone can give any insight it would be appreciated. I can't help think there will be massive interest in this car, but perhaps what is different to when the e-Niro was launched is that there are more EV options in the general marketplace in a similar sector?

The press release states:
"The UK pre-reservation window for the all-new Kia EV6 will close after 22:59 British Summer Time on 30 April. To-date, around 1,250 UK customers have pre-reserved their EV6."
- Interesting - I wonder whether they will be able to service all those orders (assuming a reasonable percentage will go ahead, and some will not proceed)?

"Customers can visit the Kia UK website to configure and pre-reserve their EV6: www.kia.com/uk/new-cars/ev6/. The pre-reservation process enables customers to secure an early ordering slot for the new battery electric vehicle (BEV) via the Kia UK website, with a fully refundable £100 charge."

Pre-reservation customers will be invited to place their order during an exclusive ordering period from 4 to 17 May 2021, ahead of general orders commencing from 18 May."

  • I assume that configuration starts on 4th May as I can't see a way to do it on the site just now.
  • I wonder whether PCP prices/APR% will be known as part of the ordering process and what the APR% rates will be.

You’ll both be glad to know Red is the no cost colour option.

Heat pump option available @ £900
Where are the list of UK options and the associated prices for the Kia EV6?

I'm a pre-registration customer, and can't see anything in the pre-registration portal, and the only official UK pricing I have seen is for the models (no options) on the press release.
Enter - Kia NEWSROOM. Please can someone post a link to the full option list?

I'm interesting in the pricing for
  • Tow Bar - not for towing but a Thule bike rack
  • 14-speaker Meridian audio system - whether you can option this on lesser cars that the EV6 GT-Line S

Is this any use to you? Can’t recall where I saw it now, as I’m looking at some many places for info. Facebook Kia EV6 page, SpeakEV forum, etc etc.
Thank you for posting that Gordon. It is useful and confirms the numbers in the Kia Press release. Unfortunately it does not give any information on option prices.

A posted called EV8 claimed that the heat pump option was £900 but has since not responded to a query from Bobdniro stating "As per my previous query..... exactly what tangible benefit is there for £900? 🤔

Can I ask where you gleaned this information from
? "

EV8 has now responded, so no complete option list available as yet I think.

There isn’t a list I know of, just some inside info ;)

Don't know about tow bar but the sound system isn’t an option, you can only specify heat pump/colour as options.
Thank you EV8. The fact that you can only specify two options (colour and heat pump) kinda make sense, but I assume that the two bar has also to be a third option?. This aligns with a general reduction in options and I understand this is due to EU rules that require that each car 'specification' is tested for WLTP and other safety compliances - as such in general options are reduced to "packages". It will make the decision easier. If you want to have a single "must have" option (in my case the 14-speaker Meridian audio system" then you have to go for the specification that includes that (in this case the GT-Line S).

I wonder how the RWD option performs in snow. Conventional wisdom is that 4x4 is required for good snow handling, but my experience of a FWD Nissan Leaf is that it handles OK in snow, and I put this down to the weight of the batteries. There is only a £3,500 price increase for AWD over RWD so that makes it tempting (but one has to offset the range reduction).

Decisions, decisions! ;)

Anyone speaking to their dealer today got an indication of PCP APR% rates for the Kia EV6 as yet?

For the e-Niro my dealer in February 2021 was offering the following:
Interest rate (fixed for the duration of the agreement) 3.04%
Representative APR - 5.9% APR

I have also placed an order this morning with my dealer for a GT Line-S with no heat pump. The information provided in largely in line with other people ordering here
  • A £1000 non-refundable deposit was required.
  • Tow bar will be able to be sorted out as an accessory - no an option on ordering.
  • Dealer will have 2 cars in August that will initially be available at an 'exclusive event' for looking at and driving for those who have ordered from this dealer in this first window.
  • They stated that delivery would likely be September or October, and that anyone not ordering in this first window would likely be waiting for a 2022 delivery.
  • No details on finance APRs, whether there will be a dealer contribution, or service packages at this time.

My order was for midnight black GT Line S (no heat pump). Dealer did not hint at other sales, but I guess we will get a flavour at the 'exclusive events planned for the first set of those ordering.

I was talking to a friend who works in the car industry and he said that in the coronavirus period dealers had actually seen very good sales and he put that down to some people having more available income as there has been less spending on big ticket items like foreign holidays. But he also said that he felt over the longer term the economic impact of Brexit on jobs and the economy would likely lead to a contraction of the UK car industry.

Like many I have now got my £100 “I am interested” deposit to Kia returned. Timeline was £100 deposit on 3rd April, order and £500 deposit with dealer on Wed 5th May. Red, AWD GT-Line S no heat pump.
Out of interest has your My Account been updated to reflect the order? I have made an order with my dealer, and also my £100 was refunded, but the "My Account" still shows the following:

144553

Of course I have selected a colour and no other options (there is only 1). Just want to make sure my order was officially registered as a pre-registration/first order so Kia ensure the offered benefits for those first Kia EB6 customers

No, Singpost is quite right. Apparently 3 vehicles are being air freighted from Korea, Kia dealers have been told this.
These are possibly not customer cars but perhaps for dealers as demonstrators?

FYI for those awaiting finance options... I have been notified by my dealer that they are now able to provide finance quotes for the EV6.
Has anyone got a finance quote yet?

1. With Kia is there one finance company for new cars (as with BMW finance) so the APR% should be the same for all customers doing for the same PCP/PCH term length?
2. Do you think dealer contributions will also be the same or could there we variance between dealers? (I personally think there might be zero dealer contribution).

If I’m right there are only 2 options so with currently only 3 different models due in September there are only 9 different list prices from the standard EV6 with no options being lowest price to the GT-Line S with premium paint and heat pump being the highest priced.

I think any of the quotes now will be a bit rubbish until next month, new quarter in July means they may well adjust the residual values to be more positive.

Residual values are set by Kia finance too and can’t be adjusted so all like for like quotes should be the same.
Given the prices for a given car will be fixed, and the APR% will be the same (assuming dealer contribution is zero or the same), when you are saying quotes now will be rubbish, and quotes later may be better because of the following factor;
- A quote today may assume a lower residual value, so for a given deposit the amount financed (and hence amount to which APR% applies) will be a greater proportion of the breakdown?

Am I right in thinking a higher residual value is better for people who plan not to make the final payment and buy the car?

I'm trying to fully understand PCP so would appreciate some guidance. Ashamed to say despite doing 1 PCP previously I don't fully understand it, but I understand many people also do not :giggle:
