Kia EV6 Registration/Ordering Thread

Hi guys,

Thank you for the moderators/site owners for setting up a thread for this EV now it can be ordered or more accurately an online reservation to make an order.
The Kia EV6 Electric Car | Kia Motors UK

Suggest we use the thread to
  • Notify each other for key events such as prices and specifications being fully confirmed
  • Discuss actual ordering process starting
  • Discuss first edition specifications and options (if any are available)

Questions we might discuss
  • How many orders will be allocated to our country
  • Will there be long waiting lists as there were for the Kia e-Niro at launch

I made my reservation on 11th April 2021. Not sure how early/late in the process that was, but already excited by the reviews and emerging information about the Kia EV6.

Many thanks,

WarwickBoy

UK offerings could well be different? It's just a list of equipment that comes fitted to each of the trim levels being offered in France.
If I was ordering a French spec car I would want at least 3, and ideally 4. . . (I'm a sucker for a nice seat). But 4 only seems to be available in high power 4wd🙄.
Any idea how to get translate to work on that page?
Here is a cut&paste translation from that link.....
UK specs may differ.

Kia has just released all the details regarding the range and pricing of its all-new zero-emission crossover, the EV6. Its first price is set at € 47,990. The most expensive model blithely exceeds the € 60,000 mark.
Kia is wasting no time. Just a few weeks after its full presentation, the all-new EV6 all-electric crossover is already available to order.

Rates modeled on the Volkswagen ID.4
With a starting price set at € 47,990, this model will not be affordable to all budgets. Yes, the prices are high in absolute terms, but we are still talking about a beautiful baby 4.68 m long. In addition, it is only offered with us with a large battery of 77 kWh . A Volkswagen ID.4 starts cheaper ... but with a smaller battery size. With that of 77 kWh, it is displayed from € 47,660. It is played in a pocket square.

Three engines are available. A 2-wheel drive version already developing 229 hp . A slightly more powerful 4-wheel drive model : 325 hp . And a version developing nearly 600 hp , still with all-wheel drive.
A total of four finishes
There are a total of four finishes. But the top finish is reserved for the more powerful model . The endowment is already generous from the very first level of Active finish. Going upmarket, it's Byzantium. In fact, and as often with Asian manufacturers, the options are few.

Wonder what the highway driving assist does beyond lane keep which is already included.
See this page... Driving Assist
Thanks @Bobdniro for the translation - I was just about to go to Google Translate!
Reserved mine on 30th March so hopefully fairly near the front of the queue. I really hope there will be some decent choices of trims and drive trains on launch. Need to have my car by Dec/Jan so don't have time to wait around for more choice, but will be very disappointed if I can't at least get a version with a premium stereo. If I can choose AWD and a sunroof even better.

If it goes the same way as most of the other manufacturers we will get a choice of RWD and two battery sizes. AWD to come next year.

That's what I'm expecting. Still, rather an EV6 with RWD and no sunroof than any of the competition. But if they don't let me have a decent stereo I might be asking for my £100 back! 😄
I put my UK reservation down on 2nd April and got confirmation on the same day. Trouble is, I want a GT and I've heard they won’t be delivering any GT's until 2022. This throws a major spanner in the works because the new ULEZ Expansion Zone for London comes into force in October and I need an EV by then or else I'll be paying through the nose every time I leave the house and drive, well, pretty much anywhere.

If anyone can shed any light on the likely delivery dates that'd be great.
Hi i did the same as you and now want to change my order to a GT=Line the resavation says EV 6 and nothing else so when i get the call i hope i can change to a GT-Line. I got a web page address from Kia UK for your personal order but its not live yet i think once you have a firm order you can go into your account and make changes
I have also put in an order reservation. Is it naive to assume that test drive models will be available in May when the ordering process kicks off? I am not going to order a car I've never driven.
I have been told buy my dealer test drives will not be till August September
I don't think Kia can expect anyone to turn their reservation into an order under precise details on specification, prices and model release dates are known. I would expect those that have made a reservation will be able to switch to a different model or request their money back at that time.

Even if a firm reservation is made I suspect you could pull out under distance selling regulations so you will likely have an opportunity to consider advance reviews and take a test drive yourself before the sale is concluded.

If the car is as good and popular as many think it will be then the dealer will have no difficulty in finding another buyer.
For full transparency I got this information from a Facebook based Kia forum but thought those on this forum would be interested. For UK buyers it seems there will be two EV6 GT Line variants (EV6 GT-Line and EV6 GT-Line S). The GT-Line S includes a Meridian Premium Sound System. If this is anything like those in other marques this will be an awesome system.

It will be interesting to see the price difference between the two variants, and whether you scan specify the Premium Sound System separately.

Only 2 days until we can place our orders assuming the Kia statement in order emails that "The exclusive window to place an order for your EV6 is due to open at the end of April " is still correct.

Interesting.
..."further equipment...including" suggests there are more than those detailed.

The sunroof perhaps?

I do hope so as I want the GT line and an openable sunroof is a specific requirement. Or perhaps it is an option on any model?

There is a post on 10th April in the Facebook group called Kia EV6 UK interest group with comment "Just spoke to my dealer to let them know that I have expressed interest in the EV6, and she told me that they are doing a GT-Line S as well as the GT-Line. This wasn't on the website, so thought I'd share it with you guys".

Anyone know when Ioniq 5 will be available to view / test drive? I prefer the EV6 but since they are sister companies and make use of the same platform, a look at the Ioniq, which will be available earlier, will give a reasonable idea of the size, quality, performance and drive that we might expect from the EV6.

it was available to view last week in Birmingham. Not sure of any other plans soon.
For people placing £100 reservations for a Kia EV6 in late March and very early August they were told "The exclusive window to place an order for your EV6 is due to open at the end of April" whereas if you were to place a £100 reservation for a Kia EV6 today you see the message "Place you order (After May 2021) .... offer you the option to be one of the first to place an EV6 order" as per @Bobdniro post above.

I wonder whether
1) Orders will offered first those who made their deposits earliest, and then in tranches ordered by deposit date OR
2) Everyone who made a deposit between when deposits could be first placed in March and the end of April will be offered the ability to make an order at the same time OR
3) Perhaps they will analyze where people live and balance orders across Kia dealers based on location

I wonder what will happen if there are far more deposits that allocation of UK EV6's?

Does anyone know how this process was managed by Kia for the UK Kia eNiro? I seem to remember there was loads of interest in the "First Edition" and far more orders made than could be delivered when the car launched and there were very long (sometimes a year and longer) waiting lists.

If anyone can give any insight it would be appreciated. I can't help think there will be massive interest in this car, but perhaps what is different to when the e-Niro was launched is that there are more EV options in the general marketplace in a similar sector?

I really would like to see the UK spec and prices. I have a reservation for a GT Line, but I fancy a dual motor.
it is looking like the Ioniq 5 45 edition is going to be around £45k
