Kia EV6 Registration/Ordering Thread

Hi guys,

Thank you for the moderators/site owners for setting up a thread for this EV now it can be ordered or more accurately an online reservation to make an order.
The Kia EV6 Electric Car | Kia Motors UK

Suggest we use the thread to
  • Notify each other for key events such as prices and specifications being fully confirmed
  • Discuss actual ordering process starting
  • Discuss first edition specifications and options (if any are available)

Questions we might discuss
  • How many orders will be allocated to our country
  • Will there be long waiting lists as there were for the Kia e-Niro at launch

I made my reservation on 11th April 2021. Not sure how early/late in the process that was, but already excited by the reviews and emerging information about the Kia EV6.

Many thanks,

WarwickBoy

Good morning all.
Just had email from the dealer (06.30 this morning) inviting me to contact them. So a phone call later this morning beckons.
Will update with hopefully order details.
Snap there not hanging around think there is more nubers of these cars avalible than they are giving credit for
Where are the list of UK options and the associated prices for the Kia EV6?

I'm a pre-registration customer, and can't see anything in the pre-registration portal, and the only official UK pricing I have seen is for the models (no options) on the press release.
Enter - Kia NEWSROOM. Please can someone post a link to the full option list?

I'm interesting in the pricing for
  • Tow Bar - not for towing but a Thule bike rack
  • 14-speaker Meridian audio system - whether you can option this on lesser cars that the EV6 GT-Line S
There isn’t a list I know of, just some inside info ;)

Don't know about tow bar but the sound system isn’t an option, you can only specify heat pump/colour as options.
Is this any use to you? Can’t recall where I saw it now, as I’m looking at some many places for info. Facebook Kia EV6 page, SpeakEV forum, etc etc.
Thank you for posting that Gordon. It is useful and confirms the numbers in the Kia Press release. Unfortunately it does not give any information on option prices.

A posted called EV8 claimed that the heat pump option was £900 but has since not responded to a query from Bobdniro stating "As per my previous query..... exactly what tangible benefit is there for £900? 🤔

Can I ask where you gleaned this information from
? "

EV8 has now responded, so no complete option list available as yet I think.

Thank you EV8. The fact that you can only specify two options (colour and heat pump) kinda make sense, but I assume that the two bar has also to be a third option?. This aligns with a general reduction in options and I understand this is due to EU rules that require that each car 'specification' is tested for WLTP and other safety compliances - as such in general options are reduced to "packages". It will make the decision easier. If you want to have a single "must have" option (in my case the 14-speaker Meridian audio system" then you have to go for the specification that includes that (in this case the GT-Line S).

I wonder how the RWD option performs in snow. Conventional wisdom is that 4x4 is required for good snow handling, but my experience of a FWD Nissan Leaf is that it handles OK in snow, and I put this down to the weight of the batteries. There is only a £3,500 price increase for AWD over RWD so that makes it tempting (but one has to offset the range reduction).

Decisions, decisions! ;)

I have just had a call from my dealer SG Petch at Sunderland. I am going to visit them next week. Too much on this week.
I asked about a heat pump £900! So I shall not be having that! I did reserve a GT Line, but now I see the spec of the GT Line S I see there are a number of things that are only available on the S. Dealer says he has the full spec (apart from weight! Perhaps it weighs 2.75 tonne!) so we can discuss what I want on the car.
Regards the Heat pump, my current car is a MINI Countryman PHEV, one of the options it came with was Heated screen, normally very useful in the winter. However completely unnecessary on a car where you can pre heat before your journey! I also will not be covering excessive miles so don’t need to scavenge the heat to save the battery range.

Yes the tow bar would also be an additional but would be classed as an accessory. For the very reason as above... WLTP testing. The list of applicable accessories probably won’t be seen for several more months

Kia don’t really have options let alone packs, as the current Soul and E-Niro customers will tell you. The heat pump and colour are truly the only “options” so if you want the sound system it’ll have to be GT Line S or GT.

On the heat pump, I don’t have more to say than what the others have said - waste heat from coolant will improve battery performance but to what level I don’tknow.

I looked up the temperature that wltp testing is carried out to at to see if the statement re heat pump making no difference to wltp range made any sense. Turns out wltp is carried out at 23c and 14c. Apparently these represent European average temperature, I doubt they use much heating at those temperatures so heat pump making no difference on test cycle seems reasonable.
UK winters tend to be significantly colder than 14 degrees so UK drivers may see more benefit than wltp suggests.
I'd hazard it will never pay for itself economically in terms of electricity saved, but if you live in northern Europe unless you only ever do short journeys, it could be a very nice to have.

I’m in the south of England so I think I will give the heat pump a miss.
Most of my journeys will start from home so I will be able to pre-warm the car before setting off.
If you want to see the variation in temperature across the UK then this UK climate averages website is pretty good.
Looking at the details sent through from my dealer I don’t think I will add anything to the standard GT S-line specification. It even looks like the chrome trim is blacked out but will check on phone call this Wednesday.
Apparently there will be an open day in June (hopefully with an EV6 to drive) but the dealer doesn’t expect to have demo cars full time until September.
Hi,

Thought I would sign up and join in.

I will be going to my local dealer on Wednesday and have decided that the GT-Line S is the one I want in the Matte steel grey.
Not sure about the heat pump, but as I keep saying to my other half, any options can't be added (easily) at a later date, so will probably add it on.
Does anyone know if you get the V2L adaptor and socket under the rear seats as standard?

Tim

You get V2L as standard on GT-Line but there is no mention of anything over the 4 front USB Ports and 3 x Front 12 V sockets in my list of what’s included for each trim level.
However the GT-Line S gets heated rear seats (the outer ones) so perhaps sockets get included too as they have wiring there?
Anyone speaking to their dealer today got an indication of PCP APR% rates for the Kia EV6 as yet?

For the e-Niro my dealer in February 2021 was offering the following:
Interest rate (fixed for the duration of the agreement) 3.04%
Representative APR - 5.9% APR
BREAKING ...EV6 video, seen in the wild.

The bonnet looks shorter than I imagined.

The GT-line S has everything that I would wish for, but I'm hoping that the "vegan Flaxseed oil tanned leather" is an option. 🤞

Yes, if you could confirm this....and the "vegan Flaxseed oil tanned leather"

Unfortunately no option to change the interior. The GT-Line S will have Black Suede with Vegan white leather for the bolsters. We never do well over here for customising interiors!

How do you know?
Hi all cars are a pain to keep clean the dirt sticks to them regardles of colour or finish buy the colour you like the most. by the way i think your find you only get the 14 speaker system only if you go for the S model
Hehe yea I guess that's true and here in Iceland it's even worse then most places. Your car barely stays clean for a whole day after you clean it. I haven't seen anything about an S model in Iceland, the options that are available are Style, Luxury, and GT-Line. Based in the accessory list there's a 14 speaker Meridian system included in the GT-Line.
Had the call from my local dealer today.
Dealer: “Would you like to come in to the showroom and we'll tell you more about the car and get your order started.”
Me: “Sure, do you have one there?”
Dealer: “No, not at the moment.”
Me: “Oh, well when can I see one, you know, sit in it, get a test drive etc.”
Dealer: “Erm.... well they haven’t actually built any yet so it might be a while.”
Me: “But you still want me to order one and give you the deposit?”
Dealer: “Yes.”
Me: “Call me when you have one.”
Had a call from the dealer today. The approach he outlined (and I'd be interested to see if others get the same story is):
  • no further deposit required at this stage.
  • need to pick a trim level now, to reserve a production slot for an October delivery
  • open day in June/July, when we can see a car and decide if we definitely want it. We can change the trim level at that point, but you'll get the first available slot for the new trim, so might be December rather than October
  • he thought red was the default colour, and had the same detail on specs and pricing as the Kia press release
😳☹🥴😤

How do you know?
According to the image at the bottom of the Kia press release, the two-tone seats will be on the GT-Line and the GT-Line S
I want one but I want to see and drive one first and I want to dictate when I want it (January or March 2022). Don't have a problem with paying a refundable deposit but it seems unreasonable to ask us to commit before we have seen one in the flesh and have a firm delivery date.
