As stated I have ordered my Kia today. Why does it sound like I have been to a furniture store?
On 4th May I exchanged emails with Kia Customer Services after finding out that the Heat Pump PACK was an option. I asked what the PACK contained and was eventually told - a Heat Pump and ‘the necessary fitting instructions’. This was a surprise as I believed that due to the somewhat complicated plumbing, this item was always fitted on the production line!To heat pump or not to heat pump! That is the question![]()
Perhaps a Tesla owner on here could confirm or deny but in the back of my mind it was reported that when a Tesla is Navigating to a confirmed Charge Point the Battery Heater will automatically switch on at a pre determined distance (or was it time) before arrival so that the car can quickly accept a much faster Charge when first connected. The downside, according to some owners was that this resulted in a much reduced range because of the extra Battery drain!Interesting to hear about the battery drain, wonder what the circumstances are!?
If it due to sub zero cold weather, then it will only be a couple of times a year in the current messed up weather we get in the UK.
So I suppose it depends if it has any positive affects on the battery capacity over its lifetime as Lithium batteries don't like the cold, think they take a lot longer to charge.

Hi I am not a Tesla owner but have done a lot of research, Yes Tesla’s does heat the battery when it knows it going to a fast charger it does this by putting the motors slightly out of phase heating the coolant from the motor then going to the battery it can also pump in heat using the heat pump depending weather the cabin is being heated, Tesla also have the octo valve and that diverts coolant/heat to where the car needs it.Perhaps a Tesla owner on here could confirm or deny but in the back of my mind it was reported that when a Tesla is Navigating to a confirmed Charge Point the Battery Heater will automatically switch on at a pre determined distance (or was it time) before arrival so that the car can quickly accept a much faster Charge when first connected. Same here, no update on my account. My account shows the same.
Me too. I ordered RED AWD GT-Line S with no heat pump last week.Hi new on here but just ordered RED AWD GT-Line S with no heat pump. I was told the demo day for my dealer (KIA Bolton) is 25th August and that demonstrators to drive will be September.
.... it's not surprising really, Red is classed as a premium colour that you pay extra for with other manufacturers that want to capitalise on the colour choice, eg. Tesla want an extra £2100Looks like the Red GT-Line S AWD is the EV6 of choice![]()
