Kia EV6 Registration/Ordering Thread

Hi guys,

Thank you for the moderators/site owners for setting up a thread for this EV now it can be ordered or more accurately an online reservation to make an order.
The Kia EV6 Electric Car | Kia Motors UK

Suggest we use the thread to
  • Notify each other for key events such as prices and specifications being fully confirmed
  • Discuss actual ordering process starting
  • Discuss first edition specifications and options (if any are available)

Questions we might discuss
  • How many orders will be allocated to our country
  • Will there be long waiting lists as there were for the Kia e-Niro at launch

I made my reservation on 11th April 2021. Not sure how early/late in the process that was, but already excited by the reviews and emerging information about the Kia EV6.

Many thanks,

WarwickBoy

As stated I have ordered my Kia today. Why does it sound like I have been to a furniture store?

To heat pump or not to heat pump! That is the question :p
On 4th May I exchanged emails with Kia Customer Services after finding out that the Heat Pump PACK was an option. I asked what the PACK contained and was eventually told - a Heat Pump and ‘the necessary fitting instructions’. This was a surprise as I believed that due to the somewhat complicated plumbing, this item was always fitted on the production line!

The situation was later clarified by a copy of an official Kia document posted elsewhere on this Forum. This stated that this optional PACK also included a Battery Heater. I am not an expert but believe that these two items operate independently. It would be interesting to know if the Battery Heater is switchable because it is my understanding that some Tesla owners question the advantage due to the extra Battery drain in certain circumstances.

Both obviously fitted on the production line.
Interesting to hear about the battery drain, wonder what the circumstances are!?

If it due to sub zero cold weather, then it will only be a couple of times a year in the current messed up weather we get in the UK.
So I suppose it depends if it has any positive affects on the battery capacity over its lifetime as Lithium batteries don't like the cold, think they take a lot longer to charge.

Perhaps a Tesla owner on here could confirm or deny but in the back of my mind it was reported that when a Tesla is Navigating to a confirmed Charge Point the Battery Heater will automatically switch on at a pre determined distance (or was it time) before arrival so that the car can quickly accept a much faster Charge when first connected. The downside, according to some owners was that this resulted in a much reduced range because of the extra Battery drain!

Hi I am not a Tesla owner but have done a lot of research, Yes Tesla’s does heat the battery when it knows it going to a fast charger it does this by putting the motors slightly out of phase heating the coolant from the motor then going to the battery it can also pump in heat using the heat pump depending weather the cabin is being heated, Tesla also have the octo valve and that diverts coolant/heat to where the car needs it.
Phantom drain is about 1% a day due to natural loss and Tesla gathering info from the car,
All the above is because Tesla have engineered the car to work that way and it cant be assumed an EV6 will be the same

Like many I have now got my £100 “I am interested” deposit to Kia returned. Timeline was £100 deposit on 3rd April, order and £500 deposit with dealer on Wed 5th May. Red, AWD GT-Line S no heat pump.
Well, I popped £100 deposit on the off-chance we might be interested.....but our interest has waned.....so one less in the queue now!
Check this cover of the EV6 by Bjion Nyland First proper cover i have seen
Managed to get order put through by dealer today after a lot of teeth pulling yesterday . They couldn't access car on their main sales system , Arnold Clark . Left it with them to sort out as they had to enter me as ordering an eNiro ! Just received email with screenshot of sales manager's screen with reservation completed .
GT Line - S , matte grey , RWD no heat pump .

Now the wait to see one in the flesh , nearly run out of Youtube videos to watch

Thanks. That’s really useful. I think it’s a GT Line S as Bjorn mentioned heated rear seats

Out of interest has your My Account been updated to reflect the order? I have made an order with my dealer, and also my £100 was refunded, but the "My Account" still shows the following:

144553

Of course I have selected a colour and no other options (there is only 1). Just want to make sure my order was officially registered as a pre-registration/first order so Kia ensure the offered benefits for those first Kia EB6 customers

Me too. I ordered RED AWD GT-Line S with no heat pump last week.

Got the email this morning.
Looks like the Red GT-Line S AWD is the EV6 of choice :)

.... it's not surprising really, Red is classed as a premium colour that you pay extra for with other manufacturers that want to capitalise on the colour choice, eg. Tesla want an extra £2100 o_O

I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered the red was the default colour 😁 Quids-in (y)
