That is for the connector lock not the door.2. Inside on the buttons below and in front of the steering wheel to the right press the button for auto-release of the hatch door. This is less secure, but use it to begin with whilst you get used to the Kona.
+1...That is for the connector lock not the door.
There may be service bulletin to fix that problem. Check with your dealerWould love to charge my Kona EV but the charging door/flap will not open. I have tried unlocking the doors multiple times, but nothing. Is there a manual release for the door/flap?

This worked for me thanks so much! Instead of the "rap" I just pushed on the hinge side with two thumbs. Et Voila!I've had this problem too - only started a month ago after 10-months ownership. Its in for a service next week, so in the meantime my solution is a sharp "rap" with my fist on the hinge side of the flap. It has released it every time so for.
Here is my sequence: lock car with fob; sharp rap on flap; unlock with fob. Et Voila! It opens normally.
Give it a try.
