I live in Illinois, and am interested in owning a Kona EV but they are not yet sold new here. Does that also mean that Hyundai dealers in IL would be unable to service it? What dealer issues can anyone report where they purchased a Kona outside their state of residence?

It depends on the dealer. I bought mine in California but lives in Nevada and New Mexico where they are not sold. I found dealers in both states that wouldn't touch it and dealers that were trained and our willing to work on it depending on what it is.

Meaning, here in NM I had the brake and battery software updates done at two different dealerships. Everything without any issues.

One of them said they wouldn't touch anything that has to do with high voltage since they are not trained. The other one I don't know. So a potential battery recall replacement will involve some traveling on my side.
