It seems the majority of non Kia dealership (and all auction) used Soul EVs lack the map media.

Why is this?

What is the replacement cost and how are updates provided/charged?

Thanks

This is the official thread from KCS for the current i.e 2018 maps, note the maps are always approx 18 months or more out of date. and the charging POIs are even more out of date!

Thanks for the replies. I was concerned the media was ££££ and that’s why it’s so often missing.

My maps work, but I was not aware of an SD Card - is it fitted in the unit?

The sd card is at the top of the radio screen.

Maps only work on an official Kia card. I don't know how they do this!

Thanks, Ben. Found it. I suppose they use an obscure format, but there could be a way to clone them, like cloning a hard disk.

Usually SD cards used in car satnavs have a special CID or Card Identification, a 16 byte code that uniquely identifies it. These are usually hard coded, but you can buy special SD cards that have a writeable CID, see here for example, which enables you to make a clone of such a card with the right software.

That does not apply in my car, I have a standard off the shelf generic 16GB SD card in mine which is simply formatted and over written with the latest map each time I update them
