Anyone managed to get the dedicated app to download the latest map?

There is a notification in the MyVauxhall app that says there is a new update and to download the app to your PC/Mac. Once the app is downloaded you enter your VIN and select the vehicle. You then either accept the default download location or choose a different one. You then start the download which should take some time depending on your broadband speed as the file is humongous.

Unfortunately, each time I start the download it stops immediately with the message:

I checked the information in Terminal and it appears that there is a security certificate mismatch going on behind the scenes. Typical crappy PSA group software engineering and quality control. I have tried using both the Vauxhall and almost identical Opel downloader with the same result.

Does anyone have the direct URL for downloading the update? They have dumbed down the app to download the software and then format your USB stick and then load it on to the USB stick. Nothing that can't be dome manually as was previously.

Anyone managed to actually use the app to perform the latest map update?

Same error here. They are no longer giving you the direct link via email. If it wants admin rights it should ask for administrator login. It worked last time so god knows how they've bogged it up. I was going to keep a rolling USB stick collection with previous versions on so I can always hopefully go back to a last known installation if a newer one turns out to be awful.

The toolbox app is poor anyway as whoever programmed it was too lazy to put a proper Quit in the menu. You have to hit the X on the main window and choose validate to close which is bizarre.

It has nothing to do with an administrator login. The code is asking for a security certificate:

I don't update the maps, because they don't include my country.
But here is the link (seems they moved to tar compression rather than zip...) I got from the myOpel app:

Thank you for the link. On the Vauxhall app, they don't offer the link to the file anymore. All they offer is a link to the update program (app) which is where the problem occurs because of the certificate problem. I also tried the app using the Opel update app both on a PC and a Mac with the same results.

I'm assuming the "Send the download link by mail" gives you the link to the actual file.

This is the only link that gets emailed to you from the My.Vauxhall app:

The download file is 18.62GB and it is throttled at the PSA servers to around 2.8Mb/second download speed which means that it will take around 1:45 to download.

They should let you choose which maps you want in the toolbox so you aren't downloading all of them. Total waste of bandwidth.

After several hours of downloading and then copying to the same USB stick I used last time to successfully update the maps... failure. When starting the update in the car, it recognises that there is a USB stick with a maps update inserted. I accept the request to start the update. It says that Maps v9.0.0 whatever is available and I select it and tell it to start the update. Lst time there was an option to only update selected maps but this doesn't offer that and starts the update telling not to switch off the car or remove the USB stick. After about 30 seconds it pops up with the ubiquitous "Update failed" message.

My contact at customer service just advised to contact the dealership. Considering that last update I had to find the solution myself didn't leave a good impression.

Anyway, after giving up on trying the update I contacted my dealership and apparently there's a recall for my car for "ABS unit" so I booked it in for that and they will have a go at the map update themselves. I've been assured a courtesy Corsa-e while they get on with that. Approx 30 minutes for the ABS recall and several hours for the map update.

I never got the manual update to ever work on the first corsa E at all. Neither did the dealer. They tried several USB sticks from different brands and none of them worked. I'm going to wait until the download works via the toolbox thing.

Only other thing that might make it work is to do a factory reset on the head unit and then try the update again.

After downloading the update file directly using a Mac with BootCamp and Windoze 10, I uncompressed the .TAR file directly onto the 32Gb USB stick using 7Zip. All I had to do was remove the outer folder and leave the XML file and the directory with all the data at the root level of the stick and this time it worked. It carried on past the initial working page and returned the option to select which maps I wanted to load with just UK selected as that is all I loaded last time I updated back in November. After about 25 minutes it was all done and dusted.

AS per previous install, you can leave the car sitting in READY mode whilst the update is running. After about 10 minutes the car just goes into AUX mode until the update finishes and does a reboot of the infotainment system.

Downloaded to my Mac no problems today. Still took about 90 mins in total. First to Mac. Then to the USB stick. Had plenty of spare space on the stick but it still advises you to erase and re-format the stick. 17GB file size I think.
Now just to get this on to the car. Hopefully no problems. (e-208)

I managed to download it the other day as well finally. Still rather amateurish to release a map nobody can download. Took forever. Why we can't just download the bits we want at the start I do not know.

Ok. Just downloaded this to my e-208. Removed a lot of the specified countries by unchecking the boxes by each entry. So was about a 10GB download in the end. Still took 50 minutes!

Does anybody know how you check the map software has actually updated? As I could not fathom it. Both cars will have the same system (e-Corsa & e-208)

After it did the update, the screen warned me that it required a reset after which the central screen went blank and then it started up again. Because the USB stick was still in the slot, it asked me if I wanted to start the map download again. I chose “No” on screen and removed the USB stick.

I think you can check in the system info page. It shows the screen version and map version. It's a bastard to find on the Corsa. It's same area the date/time settings are for when it hasn't updated the clock.

Also if it does update correctly then it disappears off the app as being available for the car as well.

Just checked every menu and no sign of any info. Has “system software” info but nothing specific about the version of Sat-Nav onboard.
However taken the e-208 for a proper drive today as only ever been used for commuting to and fro for work so far. Sat-Nav imagery looks different and nice (3D graphics for buildings etc) which we had not seen before.
Car handles and drives beautifully at speed. Temperatures ranged from 8-13 degC and range was good. 3.6 mi/kWh overall and I was not hanging about. Hoping to take it to London next week. Will need to stop partway. But first proper long journey.

I’ve had a look at this as was curious, and I found the data information from the main Sat Nav screen.
I went “menu” (bottom left of screen on Corsa), then “settings”, then bottom right it says “mapping”, and the information for the map data was in there.
The update took it from January 2020 to January 2021.

Thanks LL! Did this today when in the car. You are right. Separate "settings"menu in sat-nav and "mapping" far bottom right. (obvious really!) and map has been updated to v9.0.

Do I hold the record for the (predicted) time for the download?

I've just started it off as I can't get my sat nav do to UK locations (or Postcodes). It keeps giving me (probably) french towns/cities.

I need it for Saturday and I'm now worried I've got to get the old Garmin out of the drawer.

Expected download time is 274.58 hours!

@Neilew I think you do have the record!

There is a setting somewhere to change the country it looks at first. It does have the UK ones it's just programmed by an idiot and not set to the country it's currently in. Mine used to do the same.

I had to go to my daughter's for the evening so left it running. We were away for about 5 hours and it had completed downloading by the time we came back.

I started to work through the rest of the programme, but found that the usb was formatted to NTFS and wouldn't work. I reformatted it the right format, but the programme went back to the beginning and started the download again. So I stopped it.

I found 2 'zip' files in the download folder. Should I unzip them to the USB or should I copy them direct?

Just unzip them to your computer. When you’ve formatted the usb to FAT32 just copy the .xml file and the folder to the root of the usb.

The folder contains all the data needed but will be around 16-18Gb in size so will take a while to copy over.

When you start the upload in the car, you will probably get a message that the usb is not formatted or suitable or no data but just leave it alone for a few minutes. You will eventually get the start message. Once started you may get some more error messages but if all‘s well, you should get a message to select the actual maps you want loaded. Unless you’re planning on driving around Europe or Ireland, just select the UK map (last one in the list I think.

It takes about 25-40 minutes for it to update. If you have a driveway or garage you can just leave the car in Ready mode while it is updating. Go get a cup of tea or something. The car will go into sleep mode after about 15 min and when you come back, it should have finished uploading and you’re ready to go.
