Hi everyone - my MY15 GTE is due an MOT at the end of May.

Does anyone know what the best thing to do to help the Garage do an emissions test on the ICE? The current plan is to run the battery down, so that the ICE autostarts when the accelerator is pressed.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks Todor - I've just checked the GOV.UK website page on emissions testing and apparently emissions aren't checked for hybrids - makes things a lot easier.
This is very interesting, the list of exclusions on the web site reads as follows:-

The only vehicles that don’t have an emissions test as part of the MOT are:

  • vehicles with fewer than 4 wheels
  • those with 2-stroke engines
  • hybrid vehicles
  • quadricycles

Although this does make it more straight forward for hybrid owners, strange they do not apply some type of test on the MOT ??. Even more strange when you consider how much oil is burnt when using a two stroke fuel drive unit !. I am sure we have all followed a two stroke scooter when you have your heater / A.C. running and it fills the inside of the cabin with that burnt oil smell within seconds !!.
