Motability BP Pulse smart charger

So we are getting the above unit fitted free in the next few weeks. As it's motability to get it all free it's compulsory we use chargemaster. We have an MG ZS EXCLUSIVE EV. I am aware there is an incompatibility issue when it comes to timed charging (looking to charge between 00:30 and 04:30) Has anyone a zero to low cost solution other than sending my wife out at 00:29? 😁

No idea if this fix for a Rolec would apply to your EVSE? Worth investigating perhaps,,,
Fitting timer to Rolec system

FWIW, the CP line referred-to is a low voltage 12V wire that carries about 12 mA at most.

With the times you're quoting I'm assuming you're with Octopus Go? If so, when you can*, switch to OctopusGoFaster. Same rate, but the 4 hours can start on any half hour from 20:30 (20:30 to 00:30, 21:00 to 01:00 etc). That's what we've got (21:30 to 01:30) and means that we can set our MG and appliances at a reasonable time.

*I think you can't switch from the tariff you're on for 30 days.

I'm assured that the Chargemaster unit can have a Sonoff or equivalent wi-fi controller fitted. That will work with the MG's charging problem. I'm hoping to get one fitted when the weather improves and my son-in-law can come and fit it for me.

Yes that looks like a potential solution thank you. I like the look of the Shelly 1 😊

I have the Rolec charger and the ev.charge app provides for delayed charging with the updated software on the ZX. Using Octopus Go it happily waits for the price to drop to 5p and charges for up to 4 hours. The app starts the charging. What the car won’t do is stop charging and restart if you are on the Agile tariff when the price fluctuates up over the threshold price and drops down after 30 mins. I have raised this with my dealer who in turn has raised it with MG. It might seem petty to quibble that it might cost me a few pennies more to charge the car to avoid the charge stopping but I am being asked to supply my MPAN details for data collection at this point, this must be as a precursor to the DNO requesting access to switch my charging off and on. And in this case my car won’t restart charging so it isn’t a trivial matter.

I have the pod-point app but without their charger can’t see if it has the same price control feature but that may be all you need. Four hours of charging will be more than you need at the moment.... Stay at Home etc....

Me too. I've yet to work out which is the best option yet. Not putting much effort at the moment. My son-in-law has much more expertise in these things than I do.
