I meant to do this at 100,000 but forgot. Last night when I arrived home the car turned 110,000 miles exactly so I have just checked my sums and the electricity I have paid for was £1,231.04 and petrol was £2,396.22 a grand total of less than £2,400. If that has been a petrol car getting 50mpg then I would have spent almost £13,500 (that is working out using the price petrol was when I bought my Ampera or just under £12,000 using a rough average. I must thank the Scottish Energy Savings Trust for supplying the rest of my electricity free (1277 charges totalling 12694.367kWh).

This matches my initial Ampera experience of seeing a total fuel cost of around 3p a mile so far - I do around 20,000 miles a year, so given that I also expect to save on servicing, brakes and tyre wear, I expect the car to have paid for itself inside eight years.
