My new 4+ arrived today, which is great.

What's less great but certainly a first world problem list is that it doesn't seem to have wireless CarPlay, but the lower spec screen models do I've discovered from google today.

This is a bit perplexing.

Kia in their infinite wisdom appear to have decided you always need a wire.

Wireless charger? Yes - wire to use CarPlay.
Wireless CarPlay? Yes - wire to get power

Anyone think it's likely it'll get added in a firmware update?

I don't think so. The hardware doesn't support it.

The 'lower spec' screen is actually newer, which is why it can support wireless carplay but the 'better' 10.25 screen cannot.
It is of course stupid to have wireless charging but not wireless carplay.

You can add a wireless adapter yourself.
Many have used the carlinkit2 dongle, with varying degrees of satisfaction.
I have one and it has never failed me. (other were not so happy with it).
There's a thread in here somewhere about it.

I think it's a hardware limitation on the current widescreen version, whereas the smaller screen version now being fitted is more recent variation so has updated hardware. I suspect when the widescreen hardware is updated it will become a feature.

This was according to a Kia EV chap, so it's opinion not gospel, but it does make sense.
