Hey y'all,

I'm an Electrical Engineer that's been looking into starting my own EV servicing and conversion garage. I'd be starting it in the Phoenix area. What do you guys think the interest for something like this is?

Hey, Fish! Most of the folk on this forum tend to be British or other European, so unlikely to have much insight into how things are in your part of the world.

Good luck if you do it though!

FWIW, as a general principle it’s a great idea if you can do the servicing cheaper than main dealers. Having been caught out for the first service, I’ve already done some research on independents for next year.

Servicing sounds great, as many dealers have a lack of understanding in general of what an EV is and how to cater to an EV enthusiast's needs.

Conversions on the other hand are more difficult, especially with newer cars. I don't want to kill your dreams, on the contrary, but since i'm guilty of getting enthusiastic very quickly, i hope others have a more grounded approach. Here's a video from Rich Rebuilds explaining some of the difficulties in converting cars:

Cheers!
