The has been a new FB page set up for Ampera owners. The original one never seemed to come to anything.
I've a 2012 Ampera Electron with 95k on the clock.

I just acquired a service schedule for this car.

Engine oil, filter and brake fluid are meant to be changed every 24 months.

Engine coolant, drive motor/ inverter coolant, and hybrid/EV battery pack coolant needs changed every 160,000 miles or every 60 months.

The air filter is to be changed every 40,000 miles or every 48 months.

The auxiliary drive belt/ ribbed v- belt needs changed every 100,000 miles or every ten years.

The spark plugs are to be replaced every 80,000 miles or every 96 months.

The cabin pollen filter is to changed every 40,000 miles or every 24 months.

Every ten years the air conditioning needs recharged and the receiver/dryer needs renewed.

Every 24 months the key fob battery needs changed.

There's no mention of changing the 'toothed' belt (mentioned in the service and warranty booklet), the transmission fluid, or the 12 volt battery.

When bringing an Ampera in for service, fore-warned is fore-armed.

My 2012 Electron just sailed through it's third MOT, with nothing needing done for three years running.

I'm two years overdue the coolant change.

The car had its fifth year service at Charles Hurst in Belfast (who no longer employ an HV mechanic)... but I was less aware of what should have happened then... and i now don't believe it has been done.

The only company I've found in Ireland that claims to be capable of this is in county Wexford, 150 miles from me.

Has anyone worked with ryansautomotive.ie? Or does anyone know of another company on this island that could carry out the coolant change?

Facebook? I recall long ago I read the terms and conditions. That put me off signing up and I still have never looked at or used it.

Hi Sean, where are you based? Our Ampera is in with Boyle Motor Group in Lucan today for the coolant change. BMG ECU Remapping, Car, Hybrid & EV Servicing West Dublin

Hi Sean, do you have a source for this?
Thanks

Hey that's class, Simon! Lucan is much closer to me here in south Down.
Have you worked with BMG long? They don't make any mention of EV's on their website. What'd they charge to change the coolant?
I don't work with them, I contacted them before purchasing our Ampera to see if they could service it as there are no authorised service centres nearby. I am out of warranty in any case (mileage) so wasn't concerned about that side of things. They do actually mention EV and hybrid servicing on their website, look at the page title in the post above, just you have to browse around a bit to find it.

Thanks for that, Simon.

Thanks for that, Simon. BMG seem a sound company. I've just discovered another Vauxhall dealership near Derry that claims to be certified to work on the Ampera. Donnelly motors in Eglington.[/QUOTE

Are you sure Sean? I was on the phone to Vauxhall customer services this morning & they told me my nearest certified Ampera specialist was in Edinburgh!

Until yesterday, I was under the impression that Arnold Clarke in Glasgow was the nearest garage to me that serviced Amperas.
Johnny at Donnelly Vauxhall in Eglinton, Co. Derry says he's a certified HV technician.
I phoned Vauxhall's main office in England and relayed to them what I'd been told. They phoned me back an hour later and said they'd spoken with Donnelly's...and they confirmed their man is accredited on these EV's.
I haven't yet heard back from the dealership in Belfast about why they've been seemingly unaware of another Irish Ampera specialist just up the road!
One thing we do know : whether sailing from Belfast or Dublin, there's a closer garage than Edinburgh!
I've done the recommended radiator grill reinforcement... shocking to think that a random stone against the rad would put an Ampera on a flat-bed!

Good man, Mick. The only bloke with whom I've spoke at Ryan's Automotive was called Paul (who said he wasn't an owner).
I've only just learned of another option for the servicing of Amperas. Donnelly Vauxhall in County Derry have a trained HV mechanic working with their company.
Donnelly's man Johnny says they'll either change the coolant for £150... or, if the existing fluid tests in good order, they'll only charge £40.
Hi Sean, I rang Donnelly Vauxhall in Derry there & they said they can't service Amperas! Something funny going on..

Coincidence! I phoned them an hour ago to confirm that Johnny would definitely be working on Monday for my coolant change. The service manager said that Johnny had mis-spoken. He is not after all trained on HV's.
I'm going to BMG in Lucan to have it done next week.

Are these guys certified to work on the Ampera Sean?
