You hear this all the time on the digital photography forums (and probably on just about every tech forum as well as others).
Yes, there's always something better around the corner, but (as they say on the photo forums) if you wait, then you miss all those photos...

Besides, nobody has yet released firm dates on the replacement - it could be more than 2 years away...

On the one hand, now is the best time to buy, demand for the cars is only just ramping up so there are deals to be had.

Alternatively, 12 months time is the best time to buy, there will be electric VW's and Audis and Mercs and BMWs widely available, making an electric Nissan demand less of a premium, particularly in the second hand market.

A third way of thinking, in 24 months the new Leaf will probably be arriving, and it will look better, have better range and new gadgets. Plus strong second hand sales will be happening because people are really realising the benefits of EV, making residuals better, so deals to be had.

But from another point of view, if you wait 36 months then the Tesla Model 3 will be close to launch/available. It's pricing should undercut all of the BMWs/VWs/Audis and yet offer better range and power. You can then either think about the Tesla or shop around with everyone else - there will be deals to be had.

Picking up my test Leaf tomorrow. It's only for four days but, really looking forward to it:cool: will hopefully help with my decisions, as it's so confusing at the moment. Cheaper C Zero, I-on, or Zoe on the well talked about PCP, Leaf gen1 or gen2  Any info on a good Leaf deal like the Zoe one, i.e. 10.5k? bloody decisions, decisions

As posted elsewhere the best Leaf deal I've come across is a 2 year PCP for under £5500 all in for a Tekna and 12k miles pa

Like anything, there is always something better around the corner.

If the current Leaf suits your needs of roughly 60-80 miles a day i'd say go for it as the PCP deals are quite favorable.

I would have bought a Zoe if only they would sell the battery. From what I hear it might have been a decision to regret. Nissan seems to have a much better reliability and service. The Zoe is technically superior I think.

My experience of buying new cars runs thus:- There is always a new model coming, there is always a price rise coming, the car you want to trade in is last years model and worthless. THIS car is the best thing since they invented the wheel
AND there is always someone who will tell you on the day the new car is delivered that they could have got it for £xxx cheaper!
Suggest you test drive, go away and think about it, then buy the car you like the most.
(I didn't I went in to look at a large car and drove off in a LEAF. I'm now on the second one so maybe impulse buy is the best idea)

Good Evening all!

Yes there are alot of rumours about the new #NissanLeaf but there has been no official Release date, what i have found alot of my customers doing is getting the Current Leaf on PCP for 2 years, that way you can you can use that one as equity for the new leaf. Its a great way of preparing, familiarising with the great infustructure and future proofing yourself for the Electric Revolution!

I doubt very much, there will be equity left after two years... Negative equity maybe! I see PCP deals as more like a lease....

I suppose you might take the view that you could cut pollution now and reduce our dependence on oil now, or later. It depends on your motivations. And your finances. It's your choice. Or you might find that current EVs do not suit your circumstances.
My current thinking is that BEVs are not slot in replacements for petrol and diesel cars. They are a different kind of vehicle to the the extent that it can be a little like getting your first car again and learning how to use it effectively.
