Sounds like it will be very similar to the new Renault but with a different grille and lights, much in the way that the Townstar van will just be a Kangoo in lipstick.
Can't I'm surprised they have realised the massive market that's just waiting for such EVs.
I’m really looking forward to it, however that timeline seems to be too late when you compare the likes of other manufacturers, specially from Asia.

if this year there will be the ORA CAT, and hopefully soon the MG3 and Ioniq 3(?) it seems to be that they are already a couple (at least) of years behind. Similar happens with their ariya/Megane platform compared to the KIA/HYUNDAI or VW.

Thank goodness for that.

I still can't tell the difference between the latest Micra and Leaf.

Electrifying.com claims that the current Micra was originally going to be a "mini-Leaf" EV, but sales of the Leaf were too slow to support it in 2016.

The newest Micra was an ideal opportunity for Nissan to introduce a small EV.
After all they had loads of experience/parts/knowhow with the leaf.
They tried to appeal to a younger market than the last generation but must have failed miserably as I honestly see more of the old shape on UK roads.
Doesn't look that bad in photos tbh.
Maybe if they'd done it full EV in the first place it would have done better.

Have a look on autotrader at the prices the new Micra goes for as an indication of how poorly it must have sold - they are cheap. A slightly jazzier interior couple with EV running gear could have been excellent as they are cracking looking things.

Which, coincidentally, looks like an old Micra.

They are cracking looking things, inside and out.
And great to drive.
Unfortunately, they're completely hamstrung by the Micra name, which conjures up visions of old people.
No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get our daughter to consider a Micra because her gran has one.
She ended up going for a car considered more trendy, the VW Polo (go figure....)

I thought long and hard about it when i bought the Citroen - but need an automatic as really struggle with mobility in winter (circulatory disease). The Xtronic CVT was both awful and, after quite a bit of digging online, patchy in reliability terms. Shame really - was a lovely lovely thing and vastly cheaper than anything else with the kit and looks.

Here’s hoping Nissan can revitalise the shape - and maybe think about ditching the name in the UK at least!

A Renault 5 sounds more fun than a Micra. But, as they will essentially be the same car, maybe the Micra will be the smart buy? (A bit like a Fiat 500 vs a Panda.)
I think the Renault Kadjr (or something like that) is a rebranded Quashqai (sp again 😁) and iirc it’s cheaper used and new. Unsurprising here as Renault has a worse rep than Nissan.

When you see the respective build qualities of their cars, it's no wonder.
We had mechanically identical Renault Capturs and Nissan Jukes at the same time, both 1.5Dci.
No difference in reliability, both fine there, but travelling to a friend of ours who stays up a cobbled street showed the massive gulf in build quality between them...
Captur, more rattles than Mothercare, the Juke was solid.

How about Micrev or Micræv (wow my first ever use of a ligature diphthong!)

As it's going to be a smaller Leaf, it should be a Leaflet.
