Hmm. This seems like a good deal on the face of it but looking at the terms and conditions there are too many outs for Nissan not to honor the warranty. I have noticed this exclusion: "Water ingress including damage to covered components caused by water ingress". Could this not be used as a get out by Nissan on repairing pretty much any broken component? All they have to say is that it has been damaged by water ingress.
Those are pretty standard exclusions in every extended warranty I've seen, including leaving the customer liable for the diagnostic charges if the investigation doesn't result in a warranty claim. An extended warranty isn't a like-for-like for a new car warranty, but the closest you'll get is via a manufacturer. I don't think those terms undermine the value of this at all, try comparing it to a third party warranty terms, they can be horrendous.

The water ingress one sounds like it’s a get-out clause for the design fault around the struts that everyone always posts about putting the caps on?
Doubt it - that's a design feature.

More like a badly fitted replacement windscreen resulting in a BCM replacement (£k) - but if it is the original windscreens which have been known to be badly fitted ...... cue @Hitstirrer

I would be interested to know how many warranty claims are denied by third party warranty companies to get an idea of how much they will try and avoid claims.

My biggest worry with my Leaf is the PTC heater breaking, something to do with the charging ports breaking etc. Anything like that is likely to cost over £1000 to fix. If I could be assured that these things would 100% be covered then the warranty would be very appealing to me. It would be easy for Nissan to say that a charging port was damaged by water ingress. How could you argue against that?

Warranty's on products are always a gamble but when the warranty covers something that will be sat outside in the rain and water ingress is one of the exclusions, it just feels like the odds are stacked against you even more so than most other warranties.
