Thanks, I have requested an rfid card and the message was a 10-14 day wait for it to be delivered so it should get here in time.

For anyone else planning a trip to Scotland be aware that it takes at least 24 hours to get set up with ChargePlaceScotland as a direct debit debit has to be set up rather than linking the account to a credit card.
I’m pleased to report that the charging went well today on our trip to visit relatives in the Stockport area. The Moto service station on route had loads of chargers although the first 2 we tried didn’t work but the 3rd one did. 100kw rapid charger so we stayed no longer than we would have done anyway, about 30 minutes to have lunch.

The Genie Point at the Morrisons close to our destination was also a great success. We were stopping there anyway to pick up some groceries so we connected up to the 50kW charger, did our shopping and by then it had charged from 64% to 86%. We won’t (shouldn’t) need to charge now until we get home tomorrow.

Not a clue .
These screens I haven’t used in over 50,000 miles of Leaf driving. They don’t help improve the drivers knowledge or enjoyment of driving in my humble opinion.

The map screen when you find it with range overlay screen is just as weird and irrelevant to using the car.

Just go out and enjoy the journey and ignore allscreens except MPH (to keep your license) and battery % to stop and charge before 10% (to keep moving).

enjoy the car don’t study it. They are FUN to drive and we need as much of that as we can get.

Hi any help please?
Sorry, only had my Leaf for a week or so, but am definitely interested in seeing any replies. The driving range shows only 1 mile so maybe that is why it is advising turning off the climate control. In normal driving turning off climate control will increase the range as it stops drawing current.

Yeah I found it weird when I was looking at it.
does anyone know how many miles you can do below 0 or once the battery % goes ——? As I know there is some hidden battery % below this

another question I do mainly motorway driving. To stop using the heater in the car what would be best to keep the cabin warm as possible turning the climate off or pressing the recirculating button?
as I found in the Hyundai Ioniq it was better to press the recirculating button to keep warm

The manual suggests using the heated seats rather than the cabin heater. When I tried driving without the heater on the windscreen misted up so I had to use the de-mister which turns on the heat and a/c so I don't have a good solution.

In answer to the first question concerning the "Energy Usage Screen" - when the climate control is turned on (A/C button on) the system makes an assessment using different parameters such as internal and external temperature and makes a calculation. The system calculates what energy will need to be expended and the energy that need to be drawn from the battery. It then converts the expected expended energy to miles of range that will not be available for driving and automatically deducts this figure from the available driving range, shown.

This is the figure shown in the right-hand corner of the energy usage screen, it is giving you the informed choice of how much extra range over not using the climate control. Also, when the system brings the demand under control and the heat pump is able to work more efficiently, then the range loss will reduce or sometimes it can get colder outside, and it can increase.

Turn the A/C on and you get a minus figure (-5 miles) or turn the A/C off, and you get a plus figure (+5 miles) for example.

If you want extra range, rather than sacrificing heating and demisting, then I would press the ECO Button, turning ECO on reduces the energy draw and prioritises extra range.

When the range hits zero, there is 3.5 Kwh left in the battery which safely gives 8 extra winter miles (about 13 in the summer) - I have measured it with LeafSpy.- but best not to regularly get that low, it causes the battery a lot of stress.

On my Hyundai when I increased the fan speed it would reduced the range however if I do this on the leaf I see no difference so my question does turning the fan speed higher increase energy usage hence reduce range?
I feel it’s an obvious answer but I didn’t know if the heat pump made anything difference to this?

Quick update. It is now the 30th and the rfid card never did show up although the account says I have ordered one. We arrived in Jedburgh yesterday and successfully used the ChargePlaceScotland CHAdeMO charger using the app. Someone else turned up and used their rfid card which definitely looked easier to use.
