Nissan UK Dealership Rapid Charge Network

149188 Views 237 Replies 93 Participants Last post by  QPRfan
This discussion is intended to help locate and verify the availability of rapid charging (CHAdeMO) across the Nissan UK dealership network.

An original list of 50 dealerships offering CHAdeMO rapid charging has been sourced via Nissan UK (August 2014 - thanks to @flipper for the original link) and the list will be updated to reflect the experiences of and feedback from the Speak EV community.

Points to note are things such as out of hours availability, experience of non-Nissan EV owners and other notes such as locations or whether the chargers are/can be self serve RFID card requirements and such.
  • Nissan Motors GB Ltd (HQ) - WD3 9YS - 24/7 access
  • Nissan Sunderland Plant (Gateshead College) - 24/7 access - Charge Your Car Network via @Colin
  • Nissan offices at Cranfield and the Sunderland production plant have their own staff only rapid chargers.
Please note this is for dealers with CHAdeMO rapids only, not all charger types.

While I'll try to keep the list up to date via my own efforts and community feedback, please always check with your planned destination before heading off and do NOT rely on this to be definitive.

Belfast Hursts, Boucher road is definatly not an issue and hasn't been for a while now as I've used it may have a time on trips over from Belfast. It can be busy but staff generally know which customers vehicle is on it and can move it if it's near charged and you just need a quick boost...
Not until you've actually charged at them. So you'll have to use Zap map and the other online charging point maps to find out where they are.

We found a charging point quite by accident a few weeks ago - we were driving through Newcastle, a city we'd never driven our EV to, only for a charging point to appear on the sat-nav. We concluded that the previous owner had done so - we bought it from Gateshead, a few months old, in the first place.
Mine shows all the dealerships with chargers but the locations as with other ones, is a little off...
Which they do to a certain extent but only on 2016 and newer leaf's. Anything pre 2016 and your stuffed.
Is it like all the other units and a DBT? If it is I'd just plugin and say tough luck unless an app is needed for it or fob...
I'd be asking for the pricing and reasoning in writing via email and then pick it up with Nissan UK as it flies against all other Nissan dealers and charging if they are selling an EV.
Ahhh sorry I didn't read it like that

Still pretty stupid for Nissan not to have got one there. Best make sure it's marked as nothing affiliated with Nissan on zapmap and plugshare.

Parts are getting harder to source im betting or even pricier.
It may be a market that EcoT/EH move into as they replace units by stripping their returned ones for parts and using their engineers to go and repair those around the country at a fair price, or cheaper than normal.

I was at the unit in crosby yesterday and it was cooking itself because the filters were clogged with crud so it couldn't draw enough airflow in even though the outside air temp was only in the teens.
i sat and had to draw power at 55amps instead of the usual capped 106amps :(
Question for those that drive into London sometimes...
Has anyone used the Glyn Hopkins or Westway dealers in the north and found them ok for a quick charge on the way into/out of london, or do they have this new eejit rule of purchased from them only?
I'd give them a ring. It may be for non nissan owners.
