Not operational yet but when I was there Mon 13 May the guy told me you go into the garage shop and pay there. It is an odd place. Nissan dealership with petrol pumps and now EV pumps - a bit of a cramped site. Still it's a bit nearer my daughters than the Bannatyne charger and makes the 110 mile trip from Colchester to Broadstairs a breeze.

OK - this is the Broadstairs Nisan Dealership. Visited last week and used the charger. The "garage/petrol station" was unmanned and the petrol pump had signs saying that you could only use chip and pin. The charger accepted any contactless bank or credit card and worked fine. Same price as Bannatynes and on my statement it was recorded as "CHARGEPOINT NETWORK" exactly the same as Bannatynes. Still, nice to know its there and working.

The Volvo dealer near my home is like that. The attached petrol station is a separate business.

Glynn Hopkin Nissan in Colchester have a Rapid and a 7kW

That's a bit annoying ! We were staying in Colchester and I checked for local facilities on ZapMap : they're showing GH only as a Renault dealer so I didn't bother looking at them !

Certainly am.

On forums like this, I try to use 'Eric' as a username; if that's already taken I add the first letter of surname and if necessary extend that to 2nd , 3rd etc

But back to ZapMap : it's pretty annoying that a year ago somebody pointed out that GH was also a Nissan dealership with a Chamedo, 'Admin' acknowledged that - but never actually updated listing.

It is (sort of) corrected now !

The Renault & Nissan dealerships each have a separate listing. However, you can't actually see them separately unless you increase magnification of map to such an extent that only part of Colchester fills the entire screen; at any lower mag the Nissan flag is hidden behind the Renault one !

I suppose it might be useful if you've set the filter to include "Nissan Dealership" (and perhaps a couple of more general networks) but if just browsing Essex at a sensible magnification you still won't find the Nissan place.

Very dissapointed with Nissan Cambridge. Their DBT charger has been down for about 2 weeks now. I saw the chap trying to repair it about 4 days ago, and it is STILL offline !!

Parts are getting harder to source im betting or even pricier.
It may be a market that EcoT/EH move into as they replace units by stripping their returned ones for parts and using their engineers to go and repair those around the country at a fair price, or cheaper than normal.

I was at the unit in crosby yesterday and it was cooking itself because the filters were clogged with crud so it couldn't draw enough airflow in even though the outside air temp was only in the teens.
i sat and had to draw power at 55amps instead of the usual capped 106amps

Has anyone used the Glyn Hopkins or Westway dealers in the north and found them ok for a quick charge on the way into/out of london, or do they have this new eejit rule of purchased from them only?

I've used chargers at Glyn Hopkins Waltham Abbey and Romford. Anyone with a Leaf is welcome.

Hi all - I haven’t charged at a dealer for a while but going on trip soon and when I checked zap map the Stoke dealership says it is 50p/kWh. Does anyone know if this is correct. They are shut now so I can’t call them

I think I read somewhere that F J Chalke at Nissan Wincanton where I stopped once for an excellent free charge, now only permit their own customers to charge. Which seems a bit odd, since local customers will normally be charging at home anyway.

Edit: Just checked on ZapMap and it seems they no longer have a rapid charger - just two 3-pin sockets. So pretty pointless really.

Seems most every Nissan dealer has recinded the free rapid charging, many even for their own customers (my sons local delaer has done this)

I too used to use Chalks at Wincanton when doing a long West-East trip. It was ideal in My leaf 40 as it was 100 miles from home. Their Rapid disappeared over 2 years ago. But around that time Wincanton got loads of Rapids installed nearby. So from having just the one (free) Rapid there are now about 6 chargers within a mile. Personally I like using the Instavolts at McDonalds Wincanton
