After latest software update pressing the button on the wand is all you have to do to unlock the car and releases the charge cable. Tested with a fob, I assume its the same with a phone.

Tesla wall connector, don't know about others.

Previously the car had to be unlocked by pushing in a door handle to unlock the car or double clicking the fob. Now non of that is necessary, all that is required is a press on the button on the thing that goes into the charge socket on the car. The wand.

Right. So now you're saying that anyone can unlock your charging cable without a key?

Of course they do.

So you have the proximity key in your pocket and press the button on the charger cable?

This has always been possible for me. Or maybe it's a Model 3 thing?

It works the other way too.. if you have the phone in your pocket you can now open the charge flap without opening a door first to wake the car. Rather nice update.. apparently came in a couple of versions ago.
