I'm thinking about the future a bit...

Once my warranty is complete in a couple of months I'm unlikely to bother with servicing at a dealer. In all my ICE car days I've always found dealers to be over priced and below-par with respect to the quality of their work because they don't have to compete for work. I'd much rather use independent garages.

Thing is... the i3 isn't going to be the sort of thing many garages have seen before. Does anybody have any experience of servicing an i3 outside of the dealer network? How's it gone?

I have owned BMWs for 20 plus years and used an independent BMW specialist with two master mechanics. They have no plans to service EVs. Typical I’m afraid.

Plenty of work to do on electric cars, even if they don't acknowledge it yet. All the usual electrical and trim gremlins, plus a whole bunch of new ones. Though much reduced regular income because of the much reduced amount of servicing.
