So as I'm moving on from my Leaf to an ID.3 in a couple of months, I need to start thinking about getting the type 1 tethered cable changed to a type 2.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a local installer in the North East that may be able to help? I'm based 15 minutes outside of Newcastle.

I am thinking that I may just get a replacement tethered cable from evbitz (I'm sure I've heard recommendations about buying from them before) and replace it myself as I'm comfortable with electrics.

Any other sources of tethered cables that people can recommend?

No one on here in the North East that's had work on a charge point in the last 12 months, either install or repair?

I thought I may as well see what pod point would want for changing the cable... £390!

Safe to say that won't be the option I go for!

Have you look up for converter cable? That will switch your tethered charger from Type 1 to Type 2.

Keeping the type 1 is pointless, any new cars will be type 2.

I think I'm going to buy a new tethered type 2 and change it myself, although I would prefer to get someone in to do it.

Totally agree with you! Just wondering, your existing tethered with type 1 is 7kWh or 3 kWh? Will you prefer upgrade to 22kwh (3 phase) when getting a new tethered with type 2 ?
