great news for the transition to the new CCS standard which will be supported at all new rapid locations
Funding is for triple standard 'rapid' chargers - CHAdeMO DC, CCS DC, Type 2 AC - so a bit like a petrol pump with three nozzles.Probably a stupid question, but these rapid chargers are only CCS for DC charging ? They don't also have the type 2 AC plug as well do they ?
Some big announcements are imminent in the SW and I know a race is developing to get the first CCS rapid locations live... it won't be longI'd like to see a lot more detail regarding these plans. For example it says 60 rapid chargers being installed in the South West. When and where ?
I've been asked not to share any details because everyone involved wants to be firstDo you know when these big announcements will be ?
I don't think you'll get much public exposure until they are in the ground and working. If you undertake some internet searches you can find references to dates like "Six of the rapid charger units are aimed to be installed by 31 March 2014 while the remaining 9 units will be installed by 31 March 2015"Do we have exact locations and installation dates for these chargers?
IMO OLEV is only interested in spending their budget... thats why they have developed schemes that give £1000 to non-EV owning people and allow councils to install 50 rapid chargers that will be ripped out once the councils can no longer afford to run them.still wonder why on earth MK have 50 rapids listed there. that seems a ludicrously inefficient way of using the money. Yes, some more rapids, some more slower destination charging - but spread those rapids out on the major routes!
