Vauxhall are now taking orders for the Ampera but the pricing has come as a huge surprise.

Two models are available at launch with UK pricing of £37,250 & £38,995 so after the £5000 grant this is £32,250 & £33,995 - considerably more than we have been led to believe all through the pre-launch period.

Below is the email that ePioneers are receiving today.

This is much more than I am prepared to pay so I have withdrawn my ePioneer status and cancelled my interest.

We might consider a Yaris hybrid or perhaps wait for the BMW i3.

Big ouch.. that's a lot more than I was expecting.. way to go GM.. perhaps next time you run a pioneer program a bit of Realism, Honesty and Truth wouldn't hurt your customer relations..

And for being an epioneer you can have a special offer of the price you were told for a yet to be decided basic model, and then only if you get it in 9 months time! wtf?

so They think we'll just pay £32,250 for what we were told would be £28,995..
And if we want sat Nav On the screen that's already included.. we pay £1745 more for the electron?

So no reversing camera, no folding mirrors, No xenon headlights, Phone App... and presumably still no parcel shelf to hide your shopping from mr thief (The sign says do not leave valuables on display!)..

Not impressed.

It is what I feared, the lack of info and delays meant they were hiding something.
I will be withdrawing from the Ampera waiting list.

Thanks for starting this club, I wish you well in the future,

Best Wishes

Yes, I am sad.

However, I am going to continue to run the club site and forum. I am sure that they will see enough to justify the site but I won't be an owner.

If I find someone else who wants to take over the site that has an Amper then I might consider passing it on. Until then I will run it as normal and it is still a great p[lace to discuss the Ampera and meet interesting EV people :)
