Tried out the new Osprey chargers at Starbucks on the A32 at Gosport last night, arrived with 30%, charger started at 56Kw then ramped up to 78Kw before dropping back down at 60% charge, then to 24Kw at 72%. Left after 40 minutes with 80% and 262 miles showing on the GOM. Cost me £3 for a coffee while I was waiting, but a bonus was it was on free vend. Better than filling up with £25 of diesel.

I live about 2 miles from these chargers, I have used them just once and they are great chargers. In truth I am very lucky that I can charge up over night on cheap rate for diddly squat, so don’t really want to sit there for 50 minutes even for free vend.

But don’t let that deter anybody, get here, get a free vend, bring your buckets and spades and visit the great pebble beaches at Lee on the Solent, Stokes Bay and of course the Submarine Museum or park cheaply and get the ferry over to Portsmouth and visit Gun Wharf Quay’s.

Just a quick up date, down loaded 33Kw's of nice juicy free electrons, this afternoon 😀

So still on free vend (until the end of July, as reported) and these chargers are an absolute joy to use, plugged in and went over to LIDL's and M&S to do some shopping, 45 minutes all done.

Interestingly a Polestar standard range was charging on the 2nd pump, when I returned, first time I have seen one, the only ones that I have seen previously, have been the long range variant with the gold brake callipers.

I topped up on Tuesday ready for a trip today, there was a chap that had recently bought an ID3 charging, so I informed about the useful apps like Plugshare Zapmap and that Tesco had some free 7Kw up the road,just need to confirm the charge with the Podpoint app. I suppose I ought to get myself a home charger organised.

Just been to the Ospreys at Gosport, plugged into the right hand one and it came up with the payment screen, however it didn't want to accept any of my cards so phoned the helpline number who advised me that that unit was not working, but the left hand unit was. Plugged in to that and it was still on free vend, A while later a chap turned up in a Jaguar needing to charge ready for a trip to Norfolk tomorrow, I had intended to go to 100% but thought I'd stop at 90% to save him having to wait for too long.

Since these are 'new' chargers it's a little disappointing that one is out of order all ready.

The Right Hand one has worked for me 3 times in the last 2 weeks (when it was on freebie like the left one)
Seems it might have been software changed to move to costs-money and something went wrong.

But in terms of giving the electrons once it decides to, yep that bit works.
Correction "worked" past tense, based on your experience !

The chap in the Jag pointed out that there didn't appear to be an emergency reset either, hope it isn't going to refuse to release cables

I won't need it as I live within range but as I haven't really tried the charging capabilities of my MG might give it a go when we have a pre-season friendly down there in a couple of weeks. I'll be sure to check here first though, so keep the updates coming!

Popped in for a top up to 80% yesterday, used the left hand charger which was still on free vend. What worries me is the long term viability of these companies if they don't charge for electricity. A reliable network is the first and major consideration, price is secondary to that.

Went for a charge yesterday, arriving to find another E-Niro sitting at 87%, and a VW sitting at 100%, walked across towards Starbucks to meet someone just coming out, I enquired if he was the Golf owner and he seemed a little irritated when I mentioned 100% and that he had been using the toilet ! Anyway he left and I hopped on to discover it is still on free vend. The other E-Niro reached 100% and ten minutes later the owner appeared looking like he had just come from a gym session. So people don't seem very prompt in freeing up chargers as soon as they are done.

If it is on free vend then some people would see no reason to rush back and free it up for the next person

Went for another charge today following a trip to Newhaven over the weekend, looks like the free vend has finished, had a problem getting the charge started, plugged in, waved an RFID card, card not accepted message, tried with credit card, that also failed as did Bank debit card. Phoned the helpline, she initially said there was a problem but would try to restart the unit. She suggested waving the RFID card before plugging in, I think I tried that, after several in/out and various cards I lost track, but then the unit started clunking. However at the end of the charge it didn't display any amount, so no idea whether I was charged any amount or not. Still I have enough electrons for my trips over the next couple of days.
