I know that the Passat GTE can only take 3.7kw max during a charge but can you connect it to a higher kw charger and the car will regulate it so that it doesn't damage the battery. I am using eurotunnel and the type 2 charger there is 43kw. Can I use this and effectively it will just use 3.7kw?

Has anyone used the eurotunnel chargers with a golf or Passat?

Thanks

Absolutely fine. I’ve used the Eurotunnel ones on the Folkestone side with my Golf. Have to admit I didn’t realise they were 43kwh!

Your car will simply regulate the current as you say. For example, I have a 7.5kW charger at home and about half way through the charging it was drawing 14.4 Amps.
