More likely to lead to cash strapped councils with older posts that cant easily be setup for contactless to just decommission and not replace, more trouble than worth for a paulty income they generate.

All they need to do is make the electricity free and have higher parking costs. After all, on a 7kW charger, the most you can put in is £1.05/hour, so just set the parking rate to £3/hour?
