Has anyone with an electric motorcycle (or scooter) had much experience using their machine while also carrying a pillion passenger?

I'm interested in getting something for running around south london, but my better half loves riding on the back so I'm wondering how much of an affect it would have on range/speed.

Luckily my better half is not heavily built (less than 60kg!) so any effects will hopefully be reduced.

I've been waiting for the 125cc equivalent bikes (eg: Super Soco TC Max) to come down in price a bit, but also saw the Lexmoto Cypher today, which looks interesting (albeit as a 50cc equivalent).

I'm perfectly happy riding with a pillion (been riding bikes for nearly 40 years) on a regular bike, but interested to know just how much the extra weight affects the new machines performance, and handling.

I don't ride a bike at all but it would be no different from an ICE in terms of effect on performance or range. More weight means slower acceleration and less range. The fact that the extra 60kg is probably negligible to the overall weight you might not see a massive difference. Would be no worse than a heavier person riding compared to a really slender rider.

Also shouldn't have too much aerodynamic effect, so I wouldn't expect a massive impact - maybe 20% hit to range at worst.

Bear in mind that although you didn't get much of a response due, I presume, to general lack of knowledge that's not to say nobody will be interested in your practical experience if you do try it!
So come back here if you can with your tales. :)
