I often use Prem Inn on business as their extensive network means they are always close to where I need to be. Working on the "if they keep being asked maybe they'll get the message" theory I've just had this dialogue via e mail...

Do any of your hotels offer charging facilities for Electric Vehicles? They are cheap (or free) to install and would be invaluable to me to charge up while sleeping... |
If not see http://zerocarbonworld.org/zero-net for details of free systems for hotels.

Dear Derek,
Thank you for your email.
In response to your query. At premier inn we do not offer this facility.
Thank you for sharing this information with us as it may be something we would be interested in looking at in the future.

Oh well worth a try and one day someone will be sat in meeting and say hey I've been asked about that lets get some installed...

Hi Derek,

There may be people within the Premier Inn organisation who are already pushing for EV charging, and to help them achieve that, you need to let Premier Inn know three more things:

1. You are a regular Business customer of theirs

2. you drive an EV,

and

3. You have a choice of where you stay, and Best Western hotels already have 50 of their premises equipped with Chargers.

The Ball, then, is in their court . . .

perhaps remind them there is one example at Premier Inn, Camborne, Cornwall - free for those staying at or eating there.
Thats a well kept secret - no mention of it at all on their web site.

I thought I'd confirmed it when I read "And when you're ready to recharge..."

but it went on to say "..., you'll find a warm welcome from our friendly team, spacious rooms and extra-comfy beds!"

EV's are taking off slowly here in NI..The province wide charger network opened for business in spring a Year ago,and about the first I heard of it (apart from the appearance of the chargers in car parks!) was an EV roadshow in a bunch of towns this past march..I got to one of them and have since agreed on a Zoe for delivery next week..
The hotel business in this area seems to be slow in adopting new tech..One local hotelier ahead of the curve installed a charger for guests, and resorted to offering free accommodation to EV owners to drum up business to use it!
Working in the business myself , I had a word with the owner of my place of work, asking how much Diesel the company van would use and suggesting an equivalent E-Van (with a free grant paid charger install to go with it,natch..!)
"Not Yet" summarised his response..Maybe I'll let him try the Zoe..

I got a very different reply to an email I sent in April.

Dear Mr McAdam

Thanks for your email.

In answer to your question about Electric Car Chargers, I can advise you that the following hotels have charging points at the present time:

PI Camborne, PI Dagenham, PI Heathrow T5, PI Archway & PI Stourbridge all have EV points.

There are further developments in the pipeline for a couple of other hotels.

I hope that this helps you.

Kind Regards

Rachel Cowley
