Hi, I have a IPhone 6, iOS 8.1.1 paired with my PHEV. I use the Mitsubishi app, play music via Bluetooth and receive calls but I can’t make hands free calls.

When I make a call the MMCS flashes up briefly ‘call in progress’ but will not switch through to the car. In other words you have to hold the phone normally to make a call, hands free is not working. I’ve tried it dialling from the MMCS and even using the voice commands and it will dial the number but will not connect to the car speakers/microphone so you have to pick up the phone, as I’ve said receiving calls is fine.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas what the issue may be?

Thanks - Tony

I can't help with a solution, but that's exactly the same problem I'm having.

Music, app and receiving calls all fine, but can't dial out. I'm also using an iPhone 6 on 8.1.1

I think it's an Apple OS issue Stu, I'm trying to see what I can find out and will let you know if I come up with anything.

Hi Stu, I have a fix........of sorts. When you make a call the phone is not staying connected to the hands free system. If you use your handset to make a call as it dials you will see the phone screen displayed where you can put the phone on speaker or mute etc. One of the buttons there is AUDIO. Press that and you will see the tick is next to IPhone, if you press the hands free option it will connect to the car. If you sit in your car with the phone and try it you will see what I mean.

I've no idea why it is not staying on hands free when it obviously makes a Bluetooth connection to the car but that is a fix. It's not as if we can update the Apple OS as this is the latest.

If I find anything else I'll let you know.

This is becoming a well known problem - see here - http://www.myoutlanderphev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=852

I have an iPhone 6, latest iOS and a GX4HS.

My phone randomly drops back to the phone speaker from "HandsFree" and even if I manually select it as Tony describes it still occasionally drops out.

The only 'fix' I have found at the moment is to turn off WiFi when you get in the car - this way it seems to maintain a connection without dropping back to the phone randomly then back to the car.

Calls still sound like a bad dalek though. Apparently iPhone 6 is having this problem with other cars too, not just the Outlander.

Hoping an iPhone iOS update soon fixes it.

I had a similar problem when connecting as phone is fine, then drops out and radio comes back on, then reconnects, then drops, etc, etc...happened while on phone to PHEV Specialist at garage which was ideal.
Got a lot better when I disconnected the wifi connection to the PHEV and only drops out sporadically now, with wifi switched on it was a nightmare - every 30-60 seconds!!!

I just tried my dealer. They put me through to their ‘Master Tech’ who initially said IOS 8.1.2 should work – I told him it didn’t. They then called back and said it looks like an Apple issue based on the fact that other manufacturers forums are reporting the same issue with iPhone 6.0 and IOS 8.1.x He may be right but I did say there were reports that other phone users were reporting the same issue with Mitsubishis. They simply suggested they may be using similar Bluetooth code (?). So, if it is Apple let’s hope the next release sorts it……………..…now where’s that old Nokia?

I have the same problem with an iPhone - if you initiate the call via Mobile Phonebook on the screen then it holds the all, but the phonebook search function is rubbish so often more painful than manually switching back from phone via Audio.

I was getting the problem with it switching in/out too, but think that was when using SatNav and it temp disconnects phone when making a route announcement, so I mute SatNav when making calls and it seems OK

Outlander 4h owner here with iPhone 5s running 8.1.2

Hands free calls drop after a few minutes, but noticed that iPhone to BluTooth speaker connection in the kitchen has also started dropping randomly...

Hi guys, now that iOS 8.3 is released and claims that many Bluetooth issues have been fixed are there still connection issues with the Outlander. I'm still waiting for my GX3 and because it doesn't have a touch screen audio unit I was thinking of getting a pioneer CarPlay unit if the standard audio still has issues.

I upgraded to 8.3 last night and updated the Outlander software today, and so far, so good. It is an intermittent problem for me though, so I'm not claiming victory just yet ...

It's a bit of a pain - you have to have the App on your phone and connect to the car's WiFi and then do a software update via the App.

The App in itself is a bit of a joke, being called Remote Control, but then having to be connected to the car - no Remote Control over the internet - don't get me started on that!
