I think I need a change of clothes... phew!

What a great ad too.
Some nice computer graphics, and a lovely idea. I wonder how different a working version will be?

Nice scenery up here in Glencoe, Kylesku bridge and on Skye, but we still drive on the left! Interesting nevertheless.

Forgot to post this when it hit the news last week, it's gained TUV road-test approval:

:D
Yeah, but no one will want to buy it, it only has 4 seats.. #AmperaProblems

0-60 in 2.8 seconds? Sorry, I require 2.7 seconds.

I know what you mean, so close to being a really quick car. ;) :D

Should be good at towing though ;-)
it's a lovely car, but after doing a bit of research into the 'Entrepreneur' leading the project, I strongly suspect that this car will never see production. I also suspect the energy storage technology is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

I hope I'm proved wrong though!

I have seen a load of information on this car this week, it's all fairly interesting. I can share these links to the press releases that give a lot more information than the media have repeated...

The key detail seems to be the 2x200Litre tanks of electrolyte fluid for 400-600km range.. And presumably another 400Litres of tanks for used waste fluid?

So that fluid explains the 2.3 tonne kerb weight even with a carbon monocoque.

I can't seem to make all the stated figures add up though....
See less See more
400 litre or 800 litre fuel tank......

400 litres of lithium ion (in raw 18650 flavour) would be 320kwh. (800wh/l). Should be enough for a range of about 1,000 miles. Even if you lost 50% with packaging, cooling, monitoring etc, that would still be 160kwh or about 500 miles....
It is using simple water based brine solutions (metal salts) nothing dangerous as such..
The problem is they are claiming 600wh/kg for the technology.
but the car figures are a [400km] range from [400 litres] at [20kwh/100km] - all three are stated figures.
I can't make that add up...
I don't think anyone can make the numbers add up..... it all sounds like a bunch of marketing hokum to me.
it all sounds like a bunch of marketing hokum to me.
I think there is more to it than that, and a very large pot of money at stake from organisation who are interested in retailing liquid fuels from exclusive road side establishments (this sales plan fits the oil industry model exactly, and is just as tied in with no home recharge available)
The problem is that I think it's going to struggle to out do battery technology on basic performance, which it would absolutely need to do! yes it can pump 'recharge' in 10 minutes.. but that may not beat the existing perks (eg home charge) from battery.
